How Many Miles per Year?

How many miles do you typically put on your rigs each year? Reading another post of folks itineraries, it seems really wide spread -- some with what looks to be lots of road time and others just point to point. I'm curious what the average is for the forum.

Our first trip was the Oregon Coast in late April, with plans to do a second trip in late May. That didn't materialize. We don't usually go out with the working families while school is out, so late June through Labor Day we stay home.

Family who live in Japan came over for 10 days over the Labor Day weekend and we had a major four day "bash" at our house. We'd planned a late Sept-early Oct trip, but then I did something really dumb and ended up with a dislocated middle finger on my left hand. Four weeks in, and it's not ready for prime time yet.

Once we're into October, chances of a decent trip get slim. I think we're going to bag it for the year, shut off the on-the-road part of our insurance and winterise.

Our mileage for the year was about 2400 miles. Hope next year is better.

I am just a hair short of $12000 in diesel. I am probably one of the few RVers that will wear out a set of tires before they age out. A couple of kids in college and family all over the country to visit, and the miles add up quick! 3 year old coach with 72000 miles so far. I sure hope this coach will last the million miles that diesels are supposed to get:W

Well, not including AZPETE (a definite curve breaker) and doing a little averaging of the averages, looks like 6912 miles/year.

At a nationwide average price for gas/diesel of $3.85 and 8 miles/gallon, that means I should plan to spend about $3300/year for RV fuel.

i travel in my motorhome about 20 to 25 thousand a year. also drive about 35 to 40 thousand in my truck. i travel for my work, and stay on the road a lot. its not unusual to make a 4000 mile trip in a couple of weeks. my last long trip was to denver colorado, stephensville texas, gilette wyoming, missoula montana, then home to paulden arizona.
i made a quick trip to crescent city ca and back in my truck two weeks ago.

The wife and I are still working full-time so not as many miles as most. We generally spend around 70-72 nights per year in our coach and have been averaging around 6k miles per year, until this year. This year has sucked due to both of us working ourselves into more demanding positions at work. Our RVing has suffered as we have only been able to muster 4k miles this year and 50 nights in the coach so far for 2013.

This******had better change for next year. I think I enjoyed work much more when I merely wrenched and had less responsibilities and was only responsible for myself.

We have experienced a low of 3,500 a year and a high of 12,500 others. Over twenty years or so the average would be about 8,500 per year. As we have gotten older the nights used has increased while the mileage has decreased somewhat. A reflection of more time to use the MH and less need to run home to return to our jobs.

We bought our new B+ in March of this year and have 16,000 miles on it so far, but we are still several thousand miles from home. Love this part-timing stuff!

Many more trips with varying mileage when the children were growing up, between 3 and 10k Now it is forth and back approx 6 thousand miles depending on route. Would rather drive and live in the MH than buy or rent at the destination. Also prefer the MH over a Fiver even when staying put, as I have absolutely no use for a big truck.
