How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

I'm new here, and curious.

How many of us in Class C own Dodge B300 incomplete
cab/chassis based RV's? I know two others- Steve aka
Ripsaw, with a 1977 Brougham, and Leroy aka 1978_Dodge
_Delta who owns a 440V8 powered sharp looking 1978
Delta RV. I would like to ask, and offer, help, idea
swapping and comparing notes on our particular RV's
which are based on the Dodge B300 van chassis.

Yeah, I know. These are low tech, podgy old RV's that
would be considered "entry level" for folks like me,
but I have a deep and abiding respect for the quality
of these old "monsters of the open road". And anyone
wanting to pick brains, joke about, share notes or just
brag about our old A- Dodge-io's are certainly welcome
to PM or email me. Between all of us we can form a real
good support group, and help each other with problems
we know we'll encounter with an older vehicle.

Sure. I'd love a new RV. But I'd rather have an older
one already paid for, and a lotta great memories. Call
me frugal, an old hippie, or whatever you will. I'm proud
of my old land yacht.

Ya know... ya get the engine rebuilt, and you are all excited about having a reliable moving vehicle...

This week.... we think the regulator isn't happy. I got about halfway home and was tempted to stick a flashlight out the window. I got to a well lit parking lot, and it shut down shortly after with a drained battery.

Had a friend come out and threw jumpers on it for about 20 mins so I could get home tonight... and make a trip to the parts store tomorrow. 😞

Other than that, we had a good weekend.

You can buy a needle that will go on the end of a grease gun. You poke the needle through the bushing (all the way in if possible) and then pump some grease in and that should help, if they are not to worn out.

BTW, I made it back from my race weekend. LOVED it. I will get some pics posted in the next day or so. Really worn out, lol.

I put hellwig sway bar on the front and back of my 1976 Dodge Tioga 2 it handles great but no matter what lube i use the sway bar bushings squeak .......thanks for any help ...

Driveway I have. Gravel (mostly) comin' up the hill and then a reasonably large gravel area to park on. RV gets parked behind the gravel, though.

I don't have a pole barn, I don't have a shop, I don't have a garage, I don't have a carport... I do have a shed, but it's only 4'x8'.

Wow! I didn't realize that's what the hump is for. (Ya' learn something new everyday!) I always thought the oilpan and axles were there to smooth out that hump in the middle.

I'm gonna guess this is enough thread-jackin' ... back to our regularly scheduled discussion, before the moderators get mad at us again.:p

Does it count if it's "cowbellied"- as in higher in the middle than
the ruts? That's the tranny oilpan "polishing" feature...

well, i feel jealous of all of you even those with just a driveway to park it in. Apartment living does have its benefits though since it costs less and i can spend more money/time on/in the Travco, Funny thing is they both have about the same amount of square footage.

Okay, then. You should be able to get the piece from any RV dealer with a parts department in your area. Or you can call RV Doctor George in Sacramento - 916 927 7837 - he should have it used for you (cheap).
Service manual is available here (pdf).

I'd try a sealer putty that is resistant to fuel, sold at every auto parts store, before I emptied the tank and took it to a welder. Especially since it's a small hole.

I have nothing on the Kohler, I'll have to look around a bit.

Lets see, its a dometic 760, the fuel tank is steel, up under the middle by the rear axle,I filled it a week ago, now I have 3/4 tank, and you can smell gas back by the left rear tire, and there is a fuel stain on the side of the tank, none on the ground though, so it must be a pinhole. I havent climbed under it yet. Figures a lot of fuel in it. As for the gen set, its an old kohler 4.5.

Hi and welcome!

1 - what kind of fridge is it? Each manufacturer has a specific piece for that.
2 - metal or plastic tank, how bad is the leak, where is the leak?
3 - if it's an Onan, that's a screw adjustment - what make/model is your genny?

I am too old for tents as well and my 440 sure boogies up the road. Gotta love it 😉

Hi all, I am brand new here, and have just acquired my new to me Class C. I last was involved in 1984, with my Grandmothers Coachmen Class C, and now I am back. It needs some work, and will cost me more than its worth to fix up, but its mine, and I am too old for tents. My first impression, that 440 sure does run. I have forgotten what big block V-8's were like.

Things it needs,
Something to hold fridge door closed while driving
gas tank leak fixed
generator governor fixed (works but overspeeds with no load)
master cylinder (I have it, just need to put on.)
It needs to go fishing!!!!
tripod for dtv dish
Lube, oil, filter
