Is it possible to replace front cap on a C to make it a B+?

We really like our Gulfstream class C, except that we don't have much need for the front over-cab bed. I was wondering if anyone has, or knows anyone, that removed the front over-head bed section and just installed a 1 piece fiberglass streamlined nose-cap like those found on many class B+ units? Basically changing the C into a B+.

This seems that it would accomplish three things.
1. Make the front end more aerodynamic.
2. Virtually eliminate those pesky window leaks.
3. Give us a central area to build an entertainment area.

Of course buying a B+ would be the simplest solution but we got such a great deal on our unit, and like it so much that we plan on keeping it for a long time. We're just interested in making it more livable.

Any thoughts?

This is a most interesting point. I would be interested in converting the cab overhang to a one piece fiberglass shell that stops at the front of the cab. I have nothing in the cabover...by design. During my looking process I learned that this area is prone to leaking. I've certainly learned that! I use this space for minimal storage: no sleeping. I want Winnie to stay a C...am tired of dealing with leaking!

Compromise: Convert to Storage and Entertainment Center. You could look at some of the C's with front entctr for ideas. The ones I really liked had a slide-out bed for one. Saw that on a FR Forester and a Winnebago.

Good advice by all, thank you. I'll keep it as is.

1. Make the front end more aerodynamic.
You'll never be able to retire on the gas money you'll save. You're pushing a lot of air either way.

2. Virtually eliminate those pesky window leaks.
If they leak, put some flexible putty around them that can be removed before you sell it or have them fixed. Mine's 10 years old, and it doesn't leak. Never has.

3. Give us a central area to build an entertainment area.
You can build one or have one built, but when you go to sell your 'C', you've eliminated buyers with kids unless you make it removable.

With enough $$ and a good body shop. Anything can be done.

Would you also lower the height by a foot, decrease the width by at least that much, and lower the floor onto the frame to get rid of the basement storage? Generally, there are a lot more differences between "standard" Cs and those marketed as B+ than the shape of what is over the cab. Enough that you are not likely to find a B+ cap to bolt on as a replacement.

It would not be unreasonable to convert that overhead space to cabinets and/or entertainment equipment. That has been an option on many C models for at least the past 10 years.

I'm thinking that it would take a lot more than a nose job to turn a C into a B...

It sounds like a major alteration (think $$$).

I would reckon C's are the easiest to sell with the widest market. Just keep on trucking and either sell it as it is, and move on with a good deal, or accept the unit as it is, and be happy.

If you really think a unit that appeals to a small couples group only is what you want and need, then go shopping. You might be surprised at the great deals that can be had from people that bought new or near new, and have a hard time selling that kind of rig.

I have the E-450- H R B+. I think it handles better in the wind and above 90 mph in mountains cruves than the reg. C.
