Anybody ever stayed there? Good or bad experiences? We're booked there for 4 nights during Bike Week in October. It will be our first real trip on the coach further than just a few miles down the road....AND towing an enclosed trailer w/motorcycle.

Just curious as to experienced reviews.....

Thanks!! We'll check them out again!! Could have been the person who answered the phone when we called initially that didn't know. Maybe we'll stay there for the Spring Rally since we've already paid for the KOA this time around.

Thanks again for checking. We called Lakewood again and this time were told that we could have ride the bike through the park during Bike Week and keep the trailer on site. BUT....the lot apparently isn't long enough to keep the trailer hooked up. We'll have to disconnect and reposition it alongside the coach on the lot. Otherwise, we'll have to leave it in the overflow lot up front.

I think we'll keep our KOA reservations this time and ride around the various campgrounds while there to see them in person for next time.

Our campground of choice is the KOA in Myrtle Beach. We have stayed at Lakewood and Ocean lakes, but still prefer the KOA.
Walking to the beach is not a problem as stop lights to allow crossing.

I cant believe no bikes in Lakewood. The owner is a biker. Check Myrtle Beach State Park. Good Luck

We checked Lakewood and they indicated they didn't want the bike on the site. Neither did Ocean Lakes, which was my first choice. Ocean Lakes has a spot for bike parking near the front entrance, but it's a lonnnngggggg walk to your campsite....and if it's raining...well.. They said we could keep the trailer hooked up, but no bike in the campground. I understand it, but it's very inconvenient.

And yeah, the girl that took our reservations was very up front about not being on or even walking distance to the beach. They said they have a shuttle service for rides over. Not really interested in beach time this trip anyway...just riding.

We go to Myrtle a couple of times a year...only about 3.5 hours away from home...but have not camped there since I was a kid with my parents in a little pull-behind. There was a campground we stayed in back in the early 70s named the Ponderosa that was across HWY 17 (ocean side) from the Village of the Barefoot Trader (now Barefoot Village).

Just so you will know. It is NOT on the beach. It is several blocks, and a busy 6 lane highway back.

Stayed there once.....same as all KOA's.
We have been staying at Lakewood resort ever since
and they allow riding your bike in the park only during bike week.
