MH insurance by the month

Hi all, Happy New Year,
My MHZ insurance expires the end of this month. Last year we only used it for one month. Why should we have to pay for it for a whole year when it's used so seldom? Being able to buy it for a month at a time would be a great savings. Sure is a waste the other way. Every agent wants north of $1500.00 a year. That's ridiculous.

Thank,
Ron

AAA is the best deal going. I pay less than $500 a year full coverage on my 99 HR DP. I just leave the insurance on it year round.

One suggestion is to use the MH more often so that you will feel better! My premium is only $395 a year bet then again my mh is 15 years old now. We park it in the driveway to remind us to use the darn thing.

Your motorhome when new cost around $225,000+ and your complaining about $1500 for insurance.

However you could try this company >> National Interstate, they charge me $800.00 a year, but my motorhome is about half the cost of yours.

Ah Yeaa. for it to sit around most of the year. and it didn't cost that much. as for National Interstate, they want $2359.00 for a year. Duhh!

Well it is being insured while sitting, maybe your cost is higher because of heavy rain, storms and such in your area.

I have GMAC thru GoodSams and you can place the MH in Storage mode which reduces the monthly cost in half. Only condition is you can only do it every 30 days. So if you take it out of storage you can not put in back into storage for 30 days. I keep it in storage mode when we are at a camp site for a few months.

Just curious on "storage mode." Did you read the definition of storage mode in your policy and does it include having it set up at a camp site and using it? I just have a feeling that isn't what they mean by storage mode, but I am just speculating.

Full coverage through Geico for my 2015 Hurricane is $45 a month.

I doubt that.
Just got a quote from them at $1596.04 for 6 months MH + 2 cars.
Progressive at $1,555.00 a year for MH

Not such a good buy is it.

Thanks for all the replies. Right now I have GMAC is now National General Ins. Last year for MH + 2 cars = $2059.00, This year they've raised it to $3378.00
Evplorer RV ins = MH only $1825.00
Allied Ins. = MH only = $1480.00
USAA isn't even in the ballpark
and Gieco is out of the ballpark too.
Have yet to check with Progressive.

Hi,

Insurance is not going to cover the costs of total destruction. It takes not much damage to be in the "write off" category.

Many companies have storage coverage. If you have a loan on your RV you will also have to check if the bank or loan Co. will permit it. I have dropped the coverage on the Newmar for the winter but left it on my Roadtrek in case I want to use it. The collision is what gets dropped. The comp. is always in force. Since both are stored in the same barn I wouldn't want to risk losing both if something disastrous happened. My total bill for 2 MHs and 1 car is about $2000 per year but that is in Michigan where we have unlimited benefits for personal injury.

If the MH is paid for, no one makes you purchase Insurance for it when it is not on the road. Just turn-in the tags to the tag office after you have parked it and enjoy your new found savings. You can even shop for a new rate when you want to put it back on the road. You also get to purchase tags again. Sounds like a plan. :h
