Loved Meaher State Park - directly on Mobile Bay across from the USS Alabama. Here's a link to a campground review with lots of photos from my blog:
Meaher State Park Campground, Mobile, AL Easy access to everything in the area and nice campground. We also liked Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores - stayed in Meaher a week and Gulf two weeks back in November and December. Both were nice.
BTW, visiting the USS Alabama, we thought we'd be there about an hour & a half, so we went about 2 PM. Two and a half hours later we were wishing they weren't closing soon. Be sure to allocate as much time as you'll want to stay and peruse the battleship, the submarine and the airplanes.
You can also ride the ferry (for $5 if it's just people) from Ft Morgan to Dauphin Island and back. Cheap way to get to see the dolphins and watch boat traffic.
We also enjoyed sunset at the pier at Fairhope. Whatever you do ENJOY!
Cheers! Jan & David
