Monaco Coolant tank

I am replacing my coolant tank and the brass connections that need to be moved to the new tank had some kind of putty around the threads. Does anyone know what type it is? I want to do the same as the factory but I need to know what it is. At first I was going to use Teflon tape but then I saw the putty or pipe dope. I can't tell really what it is.

You need to read the articles on the internet about diesels and fires with evaporating anti-freeze in a warm engine compartment. I would make sure it got fixed as soon as possible.

Permatex makes an automotive hight temp thread sealant. I ofund that one very useful for applications like this. I have also had no issues using tape on oil and collant fittings on my race car.

They have the white tefln as mentioned in previous post. They also make a better quality pipe dope not effected by chemicals. It is an oil bas type product used on gas and oil lines.

They do make a white Teflon pipe dope that is brushed on. Perhaps that is what they used. Available at Home Depot.
