I have been looking for a mh and all I have seen are mh's that remind me of a glorified travel trailer with a motor attached. now I don't want to be coming across as a smart a$$ but the cabinets and some of the other features just remind me of the TT I have now. I hate to think I have to spend $300K or more to get what I am looking for in a MH. Ok I have ranted, lay it on me. I need to be corrected or led into the right direction. there are a lot of things about some mh's I like but the rest just look like TT's

They are but, my driveway is only 40' so I don't have room for a truck, trailer and two daily drivers. I'm a city dwelling 5 days a week cube jockey that doesn't have much of a need for a truck so I went with a Class A. Pretty easy to back into a camp site when I can see all four corners of the a coach that doesn't bend in the center. No problem leaving at 6PM and driving until 2AM and taking 20 steps to a waiting bed for a couple hours of sleep. "Honey I'm thirsty could you get me a soda from the fridge" is rather convenient. And I never hear "how long to the next rest stop?". Makes a great life boat when power goes out at the homestead on a hot summer night. Power up the generator and enjoy the A/C.

And the down side. Give me a minute. I'm still thinking. Here's one, fuel consumption can be considered poor along with the cost to replace the tires that age out rather than wearing out. Can't think of anything else. My chassis maintenance would be the same as a truck. House maintenance would the same as a trailer. Yearly registration would be comparable. Insurance is pretty low, actually less than my daily driver.

So yes they can and do look like trailers but both have advantages and disadvantages. Up to you to make the list and determine which is best suited for your intended use.

Many of the cabinet and interior items are the same, especially if you are talking about manufacturers who make both Class A and TT's. Just like there are various levels of TT, there are also high end and low end motor homes.
What you are trying to do is compare apples to oranges and you just can't do that with RV's.
I've watched many TT owners setting up their rigs and I see how long it takes, especially in the rain. I can pull in to a parking space, and while still in the driver's seat I can level the coach. Then without going outside in the rain I can extend the slides, put up the satellite dish or antenna and watch TV while fixing dinner in the microwave or stove without having to fire up the generator.
When it comes time to leave, I pull in the slides, raise the levelers, lower the antennas, and I'm on my way, without ever having to get wet or muddy outside.

Many motor homes ARE travel trailers with a motor! The interiors are often very similar because many of them are produced by the same manufacturers who add the engines and other necessities to make them motorhomes. That being said, think of how much those additional parts cost. To upgrade to a better interior on a travel trailer or 5er, you'd have to pay a good bit more. Same for a motorhome. Three years ago we purchased a slightly used MH (a 2007 Georgie Boy Pursuit, 32', with 2 slides - and only 8,000 miles on the motor) for less than $50,000. It has all the bells and whistles we wanted - an upgraded interior from any TT we had owned, but not what I deem to be 'unnecessary' extras like a fireplace, granite countertops, etc. Yes, it looks like a nice Travel trailer inside - but it's the motorhome we always wanted. It has what we want, fills all of our needs, and didn't bankrupt us at all - so we can still afford to put gas in it and go!!! All depends on what your 'wants' are and what you expected the cost of a MH to be.

The bus-based motorhomes are less like trailers and more like trucks. GMC/MCI and Prevost are the top names in bus/motorhomes.
