How much could I expect to get in mpg towing a small KIA Soul behind a 2015 Fleetwood Storm 26'-28' with a Ford gas V-10 engine?

Hi,

I went to taller wider tires and at 47 mph I get 10 mpg. I do have air tabs, but all they did was reduce noise. The rear end is the 4.56 but with the taller tires that is about 8% lower at 4.22

We didn't tow. Our 32' Georgetown, a 2002 model with the V-10 averaged 7.7 mpg over a 6000 mile, four year ownership.

Here is a good rule of thumb.........

Every gas motorhome seems to get between 6-8.

V10 = 6-8
V8 = 6-8
27 foot = 6-8
33 foot = 6-8
36 foot = 6-8
38 foot = 6-8
flat land = 6-8
hills = 6-8
day = 6-8
night = 6-8
summer = 6-8
winter = 6-8
and so on.

Depending on how fast and how carefully you drive and the weight of your MH you could get 9 mpg. I am guessing you weight less than 13k at 27 ft. If you drive at 55-60 mph and keep the MH in top gear you should get your best mileage. I have an old 454 with a 4 speed and a wt of 15k lbs I have averaged 8.6 mpg over 80,000 miles. If I am very careful I can get 9-10 mpg but sometimes it is hard to keep it consistently at 55 mph. I use a vacuum gauge to know when it wants to downshift so I can let of the gas to keep it in high gear. The higher the vacuum reading the better fuel mileage you will get. Also generator usage will reduce you mpg. People that use electric hookups vs people that dry camp will have different mpg results everything else being equal.

if u see 8 ,right on, count ur lucky stars. best thing i've found is scan guage which tell u load on eng, hold mine right around 59 -60 %, mine is the 2valve so i run around 60. this is a real good tool to have for many reasons clear CEL ,also can see if any thing is going south before it s to late, once u get a base line on ur eng

We get an all around average of 6 mpg..........sometimes 5.5/ sometimes 6.5.
I run 65 to 70 when the roads are acceptable.

I haven't towed my trailer in a couple years........just the coach.

We have OTR ac when wheeling........but run the generator or webasto heater whenever necessary.

Cold or hot weather don't affect our travels......snow can make me stay an extra nite at wally world.

I'm very happy with the efficiency level of our coach.

..........($2.00 diesel is a plus, eh?)

If you keep your cruise RPM around 2500 which is also right around 65 MPH you'll get 7.5 to 8 on a good day. Expect 7-7.5 as normal average with the car being towed. Head into the Smokey Mountains and you could drop to 6 and lower. Push your speed higher and you'll see the fuel gauge moving. Find the rev limiter, 3000 RPM in top gear, and the Board of Directors for Exxon-Mobile will send you a Christmas Card.

Is it the 362 HP V10 or the 305 HP V10? I've owned em both. The 305 in a 31' Ford F53 chassis, 19.5" tires w/TOAD got an honest 7 & the 362 HP in a 34' Ford F53 chassis, 19.5" tires w/TOAD got the same. I now have a Thor Vegas, 24' on Ford E-350, 16" tires with the 305 HP V10 and it gets an honest 11 mpg w/same TOAD.

From Miami everything is uphill so you'd better figure 5-6 MPG to be safe.

Expect 6 but you can hope for 8.

Old-Biscuit is ever the optimist, but he's right in the ballpark. I would say 8 is probably the high.
