New Nexen Rodain CT8 tires

Just had 4 new rear Nexen Rodian Tires installed on our Winnebago. Went to the local family tire shop and they recommended them over the Firestone Transforce that I had on for 6 six trouble free years. They have never steered us wrong and have a strong fleet tire business going for decades so they know what tires are the least problematic. They said the sidewall was more stout than the Firestones. We will see.

Daughter just had 6 Roadian CT8 (C - Euro) tires delivered yesterday by UPS for her MH. (Actually UPS picked up 6 from earlier in the week for return to Amazon (date codes were 2nd quarter of 2016 and so, were refused) and replaced with 4th quarter 2017 tires.) Anyway, they're not mounted yet but they sure seem to be a heck of a good tire. We'll see. FWIW.

FWIW, Michelin changed the sidewall material a few years ago used in their LT225/75R16E tires. They call this their "Defender" series.

I hope this change was to stop the premature sidewall cracking problem, as I now have six M&S LT215/85R16E Defender tires on our Class C.

Those "C" class of tires look interesting if available with M&S treads. I would like the thickest, heaviest, most rugged M&S tires in 215/85R16 size I could find for our Class C to ensure optimum reliability and safety when off-highway on rough/rocky surfaces with our rig. (That is assuming we could take the stiffer highway ride from stiffer tires!)

I changed from the Firestone Transforce to the Nexens because of the heavier sidewall than the Transforce. The tire store I do business with recommended them over the Firestone Transforce as their truck fleet tire. Of course the next tine I have to get tires they may have a tire they recommend that I have to make a decision on. Since they have a large customer base in our area with many repeat customers and trucking company contracts I take their recommendations and make a decision. I originally had Michelins but the sidewalls had scary sidewall cracks after 3 years. I liked the Firestone Transforce better than the Michelins for handling. I have no issues so far with the Nexens. The run of tires I have had installed is solid so far.

We have the LT version of the tire. Have Borg brass tire valves on all tires. Have put 8,500 miles on them with no issues. I like them.

Why change from a tire which has given you good service?

I would like to ask the OP, exactly which Roadian CT8 HL do you have? Exact size and is it a LT preceding the size or does it have a C following the size?

Reason I ask, the ones NOT marked LT but do have the C following the size are the Euro commercial tires designed for vans. The 225/75R16C has a load capacity of 3195lbs single/3085lbs dual (at 83 psi) and was especially designed for the Ram Promaster as an alternative to the Continental Vanco, and the MICHELIN®
AGILIS® ALPIN® the only other tires available for the Promaster.

For comparison, the LT225/75R16 has a capacity of 2680lbs single/2470lbs dual, at 80 psi. Be aware, the valve stems are not designed for greater than 80 psi and the rims are most likely not either, and you need to use the load/pressure charts (which Nexen does not have on the web site, contact them for that) to adjust the pressure to the proper setting for the loads you are carrying.

So did you get the regular LT or the Euro C tire.

How are the CT8’s working out for you so far?

I’m thinking about them or the AT RA8.

Hope we get more than 20k from them for sure. They are the Nexen Rodian CT8 HL. Have not put many miles on them yet but I hope can say in five years that they were good tires.

It's RoAdian, followed by a few characters, like HP, AT2, MT, etc. Which of those did you get?

EDIT: CT8 HL

They look good. I like the them being heavier by about 05 pounds over others like Transforce.

I wish you luck. I bought two sets a while back one for truck and one for trailer. Truck tires lasted less than 20K miles and two blow outs on trailer. Made in Korea and I expected better. By the way they didn't stand behind any of them and trailer tires had 2/32 wear on them. We won't talk about damage to 5er.

Did you check to see the carrying capacity was the same on the Firestones and the new tires, and if so was the air pressures the same for the given loads?
