propane gauge not working

I have a typical ASME propane tank under my rig, and the gauge suddenly stopped working. It was 3/4 full at last check. It is an old needle gauge in the dash(1987). I push a button when the key is in the ignition and the needle jumps to current propane level. Starting today nothing happens!
What is the most common cause of this? Switch, gauge, or sending device?
Also, I replaced the regulator this March.

I have a gage on the tank that sends a signal to the control panel above the stove where I can check the level of the lp there. I'm sure yours is basically the same type of operation, either the gage itself is bad or the sending unit at the tank is either bad, corroded or maybe a broken wire. I believe they work of of resistance

Is the gauge on the tank working? Check the wire on the tank gauge.

Loose connection?

(If that's the only gauge not working.)
