helped a friend take his stripes off. the eraser wheel worked better than the heat gun for any of the old cracked stripes. any stripes that were not cracked came off pretty easy with the heat gun. if they were cracked, the heat gun and scrapper only worked to the next crack. we used 4 eraser wheels(on a 33 ft 1993 aerobus). we lightly sanded after we were finished and repainted the front(will get to the sides/rear someday) it really looks so much better with the old stripes off(even the unrepainted sides) that my friend has waxed back and forth on stripes vs no stripes vs a mural vs plain white etc. before repainting you can see the "ghost" from the old stripes--still looks better than before. it is work but sorta fun and well worth it

When the decals finally peel off, we're just going to go naked!

I just finished with my new graphics on my 1998 GeorgieBoy.
Used a 3M eraser wheel on my hand drill to remove the old faded and cracked decals. Most of the decals came off with the use of the eracer wheel, but the cracked onces didnโ€™t came off that easy. Tried a heat gun but that didnโ€™t work. Ended up using mineral sprites on them. After I removed all the old decals I scrubbed the entire RV with a green scrubby and some Bar Keepers cleanser (just like I was wet sanding it).
The old decal left marks on the RV so I just used those old lines as a pattern for my new graphics.
For the stripes I bought some 2โ€, 1โ€, and 3/4โ€ boat stripping tape. For the rest of the graphics I bought 12โ€ x 50โ€™ rolls of outdoor vinyl like they use at signs shops. Bought it on line at: 12"x10 Yard Roll Outdoor Adhesive Craft Vinyl
Cut the rolls down to length I wanted and stuck them on the RV. Then used 1โ€ blue tape to follow the old graphics lines that were still on my RV. Then I used an exacto knife and cut a long the blue tapes lines. Once all the graphics were all on I compounded and waxed the entire RV with Maquires wax and cleaner.
Ended up costing me a little over $300 total.
Came out pretty good. Not prefect, but much better then paying someone 5k to do it.

I had a shadow of pure white where the decal was. Used 1" blue painter's tape to follow the out line then masked off everything else using regular masking tape. The blue tape was twice the price of plan old 2" yellow masking tape. Spent a Saturday afternoon doing one side of the coach. For paint I used Krylon Fusion. Not 100% satisfied and will do a bit of wet color sanding one of these days. One of the hazards of canned spray paint in the open air of a drive way. Can't see the spots I don't like unless you are an arm lenght and the sun is at just the right angle.

You can use a heat gun and scrapper to remove them but it takes a long time that way with a big RV and the graphics are old.

A quicker method is a graphic removal tool that you can get from most
auto supply and paint supply shops. Here's an example from Amazon.

Did the same. Krylon work just fine.

Only the red stripe is paint. The others are still OEM decals. Wish I had a better image but at the moment this is all I have. I followed the outline of the original decal.
