Our Jayco has rear flaps with angle iron brackets that attach them to the bottom of the house box, and extend down the back (rearward) side of the flaps to keep them in place behind the wheels at speed.
One was missing, no idea when/where, but I suspect previous owner lost it in a blowout. I got punched angle steel from Home Depot and one 34x36 heavy duty truck flap from a truck center (T/A in my case). I liked T/A's because their flap had square corners and no embossed or painted decoration. Made a new pair of matching flaps out of it, and used the punched metal to replace the bracketry on the missing flap.
I used the whole T/A flap and the new set is 18W by 24H. The 18W is probably pretty standard. 24H is a little closer to the road, but definitely NOT too low. Correct height would be determined by the height the house platform sits above the Ford chassis, since at least in our case the flaps mount on BODY, not Chassis.
Big Truck Flaps are thick fabric reinforced rubber, but they cut easily with a new blade in a utility knife guided on a steel straight edge. I was expecting a hassle with the cutting but it was very easy. I made fastener holes with a leather punch that makes "about" a 1/4" hole.
Decided on this plan after inquiring here on RV.net, and researching some expensive options that probably still would have required adapting.
