Shocks

Anyone put Konica FSD shocks on their rig? I spoke with the owner of an American Eagle who said it's the best thing he did to improve ride, handling and reduce front end bounce. Curious if anyone else had the same results.

They seem to be a good improvement on DP's and the Bilsteins seem to be better on the gassers (info from reading posts of DP's and gassers over several years). I put them on my coach and love them. They seem well suited to 8 airbag Monaco's.

Bilstein's are horrible on gassers. Way to stiff. Koni's are great.

Don't see how they could hurt it any ๐Ÿ˜‰

Good luck, and let us know how they ride.

I looked at the Koni's but ended up getting a good deal on some KYB Gas-a-Just Shocks. Haven't installed them yet, but my RV is a 97 and is still running the factory onces. Hopefully these KYB's help the ride?

Any running KYB Gas-a-Just Shocks on their F53 chassis?

Think they will be easier to find if you look for Koni FSD shocks. Konica makes cameras.

I noticed that too! I haven't seen any Konica Branded products around for several Years. I think that The Merged with Minolta and possibly Sony!

In any event They were a Great Photographic Company in their Day!

Koni is the Shock absorber Company!

As a point of information....Koni shocks have a LIFETIME warranty to the original purchaser so if one or all of your Koni shocks fail, you get new replacements at no cost. The Bilstein shocks also come with a lifetime warranty.
When I contacted them, they said I had to go back to the original supplier who is out of business. The other set of FSDs that I bought was directly from Koni. When I told them that, they repeated themselves to go back to the original supplier. They were the original supplier but just kept replying to go back to the original supplier. I got stuck in a continuous loop of stupidity. So for all practical purposes, I can't get any warranty.

But those FSDs are worn out? I thought I understood your original post stating that they worked fine for the first 20K miles or so, but then seemed to not perform very well after that?

That is the way I read it also. Wonder why they were not replaced under warranty, if the service was done at an authorized Koni dealer?

Warranty covers leaking or broken welds not going soft. Now that I have said that, I'm sure those with soft shocks will come forward with claims of being replaced under warranty.

Depends on the coach. I put them on my Country Coach Intrigue and they were fine for 20-25000 miles. Then they weren't any better than the ones I took off.

I now have the Road Kings and am a happy camper.

Did you use the recommended adjustable Koni IFS shocks or the Koni FSD shocks?

The Koni adjustable were stock equipment on the coach. I set them to the stiffest setting and still didn't like the ride. At the recommendation of a friend in the business, I installed the FSDs instead of going straight to the RKs. Could have saved some $$ by going with the RKs first off.

So, I have a set of the Koni FSDs if anyone is interested

Yes. I can recommend KONI's FSD units.

I have an older Wanderlodge and about 2 years ago had noted that the ride had deterorated...I checked: the front OEM KONI's and they were good, but bushings worn...checked the back and one shock was good, one was was shot. Replaced all worn bushings and both back shocks with FSD's. Nice ride, less hard bumps on poor roads and less leaning in turns. All in all a good choice for my 33'bus.

Check all your components...replace what you need too and enjoy your ride!
