Is there a date on the shocks ? How do you know when to replace them ? So many miles ? So many years ?
Also is a cross shock ? For steering support ?
It's on a 1992 Bounder with a ford set up and a 460
Sometimes when I hit a bump the front rattles big time but I'm not sure if that's just the bump or a sign that the shocks need to be replaced ?
Thanks for any info.

The cross shock is a steering stabilizer. (most likely) If worn out you will not believe the change a new one will make.

I agree with Rob. If original from 1992 then they're done.

Inspect them or have them inspected! If Your rig bounces when going over a railway crossing ,they likely need to be replaced.

A sharp cracking noise may indicate that one or more Bushing has failed.

If they appear greasy they may be leaking.

It is a 1992...I personally would replace them all regardless. It will improve the ride and Your safety!
