Still haven't found the water pump

2008 Coachmen Freedom Express 21QB. I can hear it -- which is why I'm trying to find it. I'd like to try to silence it.

I can hear it around/under the shower area, driver's side rear of the motorohome. But I'll be dogged if I can find an access panel.

I have a 2008 21QB as well and the access for the pump is through the outside storage door at the back of the MH. Open the door and as you are looking in the storage area, you should notice a small panel on the left, about 6" x 10" held in place by a couple of screws. This gives you access to the pump, which is, in fact, under the shower. It is a PITA to get your hand in there to work on it. I did a mod where I put a faucet with a shower valve in the bathtub (I hated the shower hose connected to the sink faucet) and I had to cut a hole through the inside of the storage area, above the panel for the water pump, to gain access to under the shower. Nice to have small MH but they have to fit everything in a small space.

Another option might be to remove the water fill panel at the rear, but I would be careful. Good luck!

By the way, if you find it under the shower, how in the world are you going to get at it to:

- Quiet it via it's mounts or the piping around it?

- Repair it?

- Replace it?

- Remove it's filter to clean it?

- Get at the connections and piping around it should a leak ever develop?

Yep - double checked last night.
Nothing in the closet but furnace and water heater.

I'm now certain its somewhere ?under? the shower. I'm going to re-pull that access panel, already mentioned, and start digging. ๐Ÿ™‚

It's now become a "Where's Waldo the Water Pump" game.

I have a 2007 Coachmen (different model). My water pump used to be REALLY loud - to the point I was embarrassed having to run water at night for fear we were waking the campground! I have a similar rear corner bed layout in the back, and the pump is accessed by removing the lower drawer in the cupboards just forward of the bathroom. I'm guessing you've already looked there if you have a similar drawer, but thought I'd offer the suggestion.

I got pipe insulation (the foam stuff that has tape pre-stuck to the seam) and slid it as far along the pipes as I could from my access at the pump to eliminate the pipes vibrating against things. It helped, but ultimately putting a new quieter pump (one with a variable speed motor) helped even more. Now the old pump is onboard as an emergency backup (to be replaced ASAP if ever needed).

I've removed about every panel I can find... Except the one that hides the pump. ๐Ÿ™‚

The Fresh Water Tank is passenger's side above, mounted on a platform above the wheel well. I can access the tank by removing the forward panel in the large baggage compartment.

I agree the sound seems to be coming from the shower area. I did remove the small panel, bottom left of shower and saw nothing. Just the shower panel.

Nothing under the bathroom sink that I can see. I removed the toilet paper holder and peered down. Nuttin.

Mine jack-hammers too. Loud enough that I worry about bothering a neighbor at an RV park or waking someone up. ๐Ÿ™‚

Toilet is not on a pedestal.

I'll keep looking.

once you find the water tank you can look in that area for your pump. they are not very far from the tank. closer the better for suction purposes.

Looking at the layout and pictures of this unit online, I would guess the pump is either in the pedestal under the sink or else accessed from the big storage compartment under the bed. (Is there an access panel towards the bathroom area there? or maybe the entire wall comes off?)

Maybe you can locate it a bit more precisely from the smallish access panel next to the license plateโ€”which I assume is the sewage compartment by a process of elimination, but you'd obviously be in a far better way to know that I would.e

My Coachmen has it next to the fresh water tank in the base of the queen bed, but that's obviously not the case for you since the base of the queen bed is basically the big basement storage compartment.

the best way to find out if the water sys has a small leak is with the pump...take it from some one who knows and it saved me a ton of money if I had not discovered the leak under the shower by hearing the pump cycle on and off due to the leak.

I have been thinking about the possible location of the pump in your unit, QB on passenger's side, shower at driver's side rear, toilet in front then a door and a small wall with the sink in front.

If this is the arrangement, check for an access under the sink, and next to the toilet, I presume the toilet sits on a platform and the water lines run under there might be an access hatch next to the toilet, you might have to remove the toilet, in that case place a piece of wood to prevent tools from going South.

If there is an outside compartment, sometimes you need to remove a whole wall rather than a hatch, you will see it by the screws around the perimeter, there might be a chance that the pump is under a cabinet farther and way and the sound is reflected at the back.

Good luck, I hope it helps a little.

I have a 2001 Coachmen Catalina Sport, the water pump is under the bathroom sink, it sounded like a jack hammer, I made a mount for it with plywood and rubber sound suppressors, shock absorber grommets, and covered the hoses with water pipe insulation, now we can hardly hear it, we need to be in the bathroom to know that it is working.

Look under your mattress and see if there is an access port cut out of the mattress support. That is where my 2007 Winnebago Outlook's water tank/pump are.

exactly, mine is under the plywood platform next to the slide mechanism.
