talking to other owners of the same motorhome

HI I wondered if there were anywhere online to chat with owners of the same motorhome I just bought?...its a 2004 model four winds 5000. Im interesting in any problems that may have come up or preventative maintenance tips and also what kind of milage I can expect which I realize will depend on my driving but ballpark figures would be appreciated...thanks and I will be looking for messages....

When you say trim work are you talking about he strip that goes across the whole side of the MH?

Is so check the lower mounts on your awning where they attach to the side of the MH. On some if you have the large awning the weight eventually pulls the bolts loose and in turn pulls the molding away from the MH. Just caulking it is not the answer.

I didn't catch this and I had a wet carpet in the bathroom that everyone inaccurately wanted to check/repair the water lines for a leak when in essence the water was seeping in behind the trim molding from the molding being pulled away on the outside from the awning mount.

These awnings are mounted to only the 3/4 inch particle floor boards and can work loose. First symptom the mounts are coming loose is when taking your awning down it hangs up on the top.

I called mobile repair for it hanging up and the "so-called" leak in the bathroom and he came out and pointed to the lower mounts AND explained that was also why I had a wet carpet in the bathroom.

The repair is to go inside and put a plate on the inside and re-bolt the awning mounts to it.

After seeing how these big awnings are mounted to just the floor board, IMHO if I bought a new coach I would have the plate put in and re-bolt both of the awning mounts from the get go to eliminate the problem.

HI. I have also 2 28R ex-rentals. I have basically taken them apart and back together, well designed and built.
The only thing I can report is that the black tank does not sit under the toilet, and one of them had the tank loosened up. To re-attached is was an impossible task, so check that the brackets that hold your tanks are properly attached.
No other issues to report. One of them has 145K and the other one 130K.

Welcome aboard, Gerald. We are enjoying our 2012 Four Winds 24C, bought May 2013 still new. In spite of tire recall, the inevitable cabover leak (repaired immediately and covered by insurance), a replaced part on the fridge (still under warranty). But we have used our mh more than far too many others in just these first two years and have a few more trips this year. If it wasn't for our jobs we'd be out more:-)

You have come to the right place. You don't need a specialized forum to gain knowledge of all about RV'ing and motor homes.

Motor homes are so 'similar' especially on everything inside/appliances that any MH owner can help you out. And of course there are many Four Winds owners here also. MPG will vary but most get 10 or 11.

I'm biased.....think Four Winds is the best! :B

I have a 2004 Four Winds Majestic 28R which was an ex rental from
Cruise America. It's been darn near trouble-free. On the flats of FL putzin along at 60 I get a steady 10 mpg.
Keep up with your roof seam sealing and all should be well.
