Getting a bunch of mud daubers wanting to make my RV their home. Any tips on keeping them out of my rig?

More problems are reported from cobwebs than wasps.
"Mud Daubers" only eat spiders, one reason they get into vents-that's where the spiders are.
Metal window screening circumvents these problems.
Good Luck, Mike

Since installing the commercial screens in 2008, I rarely see any cobwebs in any of the protected areas.

Hello

I was hosting in Oregon when my refrigerator stopped cooling properly (on propane no electric) freezer did OK refer did not. Bottom line was a dauber had got into the refer area a was trying to make a nest right smack dab on the orifice. I had flame but not what it should have been cleaned the orifice and all was well. I assume the dauber tried to make a nest during the time the generator was running while cooking and getting things back up to a full charge. A screen would have stopped it.
I also get daubers at the house and I use the Ortho Home Defense insect spray to spray the areas where I do not want wasps or daubers that seem to work well.

Dutch_12070 -- Never heard of commercial mud dauber screens. Where did you find them? How do they differ from other types of screens?

Thanks to both of guys for your ideas.

Jack

Here's one source, but many of the online RV accessory stores also have them.

You can only screen out certain locations like your furnace, refrigerator, and water heater. This will not stop the mud daubers. I find them under the chassis, under the hood, and anywhere else they decide to build a nest. If you see them spray them. If not, just break off the mud nest and wait for the next one to appear.

You can click on my name and look at my posts this year where I used screen wire over my water heater and fridge vents to keep the critters out.
Any questions just ask.

I installed commercial mud dauber screens on my water heater, fridge, and furnace vents, and no longer have any problems with them.

I would not be too concerned with items you use daily. Other items (including furnace if warm where you are) I would use cheap nylon screen over any access areas. $10 worth of screen should protect most of the unused areas.

Get the screens for the WH & furnace vents as well as the fridge door. They're not as apt to nest in the gen compartment.
