Tire not holding pressure

Our new 2016 Winnebago ERA 70X has Continental Vanco 4Seasons tires. The front tires are supposed to be at 60 psi. The left front has had no problem maintaining that pressure, but since we bought the unit last month from McClain's RV in Denton, Texas, the right hand front tire has had to be re-inflated a couple of times to get it from about 40 psi back to 60 psi. Just now, after a 300 mile trip over the weekend, where both fronts started at 60 psi cold, now the left front is still at 60 psi cold, but the right front is back down to 40 psi. Other than the obvious answer that the tire is not holding its pressure, any ideas on what could be causing this (e.g., warped rim, etc.) Has anyone else experienced this with a new MH? Thanks, Mike

I took mine to Discount Tire in Pearland, TX, they rotated the tires on my B+ Pleasure Way Pursuit, bigger than yours at 12,500 GVWR. Has to be a Discount Tire in McKinney. Good luck.

Hi folks,

I am located in the Boston area, and had the same problem. I took it to Sullivan Tire. They found a stem problem, fixed it and charged me a minimum amount. They then checked all the tires, and then invited me to come back, free of charge, to get the tires checked and proper air put into them before I take a trip. Great service.

Glad to hear it was something relatively simple and inexpensive. Thanks for the "closure" (on the airloss part of the thread, anyway).

I said it might be a nail. I guess that wasn't close enough as it was a screw???? 🙂

LOL! I went back and looked at the very first responses and noted that you and another responder were spot on! Thank you for responding--you were right!

I checked the tire pressure this morning (after getting it to 60 psi last night) and it was back down to 40 psi. But the mystery has been solved so it is time to bring closure to this thread. I would like to thank everyone who commented. No single poster had the answer that solved the problem, but by synthesizing the various responses, I was able to formulate and execute an action plan. Best response goes to Bob_nestor who suggested I take it to McKinney Tire and Appliance on McDonald Street. Well, I almost did that, but the reviews of that establishment is enough to give pause. I did take it to Thomason Tire just down the street in McKinney. They had the coach in at 8:40 a.m. and out at 9:00 a.m. with the problem solved. Dead center of the tire was an embedded self-tapping screw. RVs seem to be rolling magnets for those things. They pulled it, repaired the leak and all is well. Here is the kicker: total cost $15.00. I had to have the guy repeat that to make sure I was hearing that right. Sure beats $150 for a heavy duty jack from Northern Freight, $29.99 for a Kiddie pool, $8.00 for a bottle of Goo Gone, 2 hours of my time and $500 for a trip to the emergency room for a severed thumb. 🙂

Why doesn't the OP take off the tire, he should have a jack for it in case he has to change a flat(?)) and then put it in something (a kiddy pool or nearest lake) and find the leak. Mark it, and take it to repair place.

What you were doing is considered spamming, intentionally, or unintentionally, you were steering people to your Blog where there are money making ads. RV.Net has been bombarded with spam lately. Most people don't see it because Admin, and the moderators are spending a large chunk of their time trying to control it. No one is out to get you, it's just the Mods doing their job.
Your last comment serves no purpose on this forum, and those same people you call crumudgens may have physical, or mental problems that gives them a reason to be a little crumudgenly. (is that a word?)

As far as your tire problem, I never had my RV put on a rack to remove a tire, or to rotate them. They always used a jack, or a couple of jacks when a rotation was done.
I accept your apology, and explanation.

You break the rules, blame other people, and cry like a baby when you get caught.
I didn't report you, but sure will in the future.

I'm sorry my posts offended you--that was not my intent. I referenced my blog as a way to spread my enthusiasm about RVing. The PM said I should not end my posts with it, but that I can still use the blog address in my profile, which I continue to do. I am learning that while there are many like me who are excited about RVing, there are a few cynical, crumudgeonly souls who have nothing to do but sit on the virtual porch and yell at the neighbors to stay off his lawn 🙂 Just to be clear, I'm not referring to you in that last part. I'm referring to others. Seriously.

On edit: Edited out a not so nice word.

I seriously doubt a member reported you.

Hmmm, I think we've identified the member who got the vapors from my posts! 😉

Seriously? That's ridiculous!

Obviously your post is "For Information Purpose Only (FIPO)" 😉

Haha! Yes, I have posted enough times on RV.net to alienate someone for something I did. Gotta mind my Ps and Qs now, lest I aggravate this anonymous person's delicate sensibilities! Cheers, Mike

Thanks for that hint. I'll definitely check to see if that is the problem.
