It is called a zipper crack. Not weather checking. Michelin tires are notorious for this issue. Get a call in to Michelin head office and see what you can negotiate for a settlement . Take that money and put toward a set of new tires from another manufacturer. This is exactly what we did.

I think my course of action going forward will be to watch and protect the tire until the first of next year and then replace both front tires. Thanks for all the suggestions and responses.
