TIRES 22,5

I drive 3 to 4 thousand miles a year. I am replacing 5 year old Michelin XZE 255/70/22.5. The Winn. D.P. calls for 255/80/22.5. 80s are not as easy to replace on the road 70s run fine.
Looking at HERCULES Strong Guard HRA. 6 tires, 2 axle mechanical balance, new steel extended valve stems for my TPMS. 7 year warranty.
OUT THE DOOR $2986.00.
Michelins would be just the tires with some BEAD or SILICA SAND balancing $4025. and another shop $3995. Neither of these shops would look at brakes inspection or anything.
HERCULES TIRES are by Cooper out of OHIO.
QUESTION....What do you think on these tires? Saving $1000. Looking for a smooth, quiet ride. Coopers on my Camry are not.
Any ideas or experience appreciated. Michelin $525 per tire. Hercules $345 per tire. Reviews are good on them.
LASTLY...What is the main difference or safety issue going from a 70 to an 80 type tire?

If the OE size is 255/80R22.5, the closest size from others than Michelin is 265/75R22.5. Search for that. 255/70R22.5 is well smaller (diameter).

I have run Toyo and Sumitoma. Have been happy with the ride from both and they are reasonably priced. Just put on 6 Sumitomas for $1860.00 out the door. Have run them about 3000 miles and am very happy with how they ride. As was already mentioned, tires usually age out before they wear out unless you travel an awfully lot. Good luck on your quest. I think if I had 22.5s on a MH, when they got to 3-4 YO I would start looking for a OO or small company that was running that size on their trucks. Talk, you might get some boot on a swap for some that have 50% tread. More years before tires age out, and still never wear out the tread.

I went with Toyos's a couple years ago (2300 for half a dozen)

From all I have been able to find out the Toyo's do not have the tread life of the Michelin (3500 for just the tires with the FMCA discount and I'd have to pay to mount 'em about another 300 bucks) but on a motor home.. The tires will age out long before they wear out.

I run Toyo M-154 tires. Had Michelins before. I don't notice a ride difference, but the Toyos' are at least $100 less per tire.

Go to a big truck tire shop. I've found the best prices there. True, the truck tires ride a little harder but that's because they generally are 1-2 load ranges higher than those sold for RVs. They are almost always marked "regroovable", too. For us, that doesn't really matter as we generally "age out" our tires before the tread is gone but I feel better that there is more rubber between what ever I run over and the inside of the tire. One thing I have noticed is that truck tires are always marked for 120 max PSI and the truck shops always set them to that. When you get home just lower it to what is on your RV's tire label or it will ride like a Flintstone car. I find there is a lot more tread left on the truck tire once I hit the 7 year mark and go shopping again. The first time I did this the tire guy had me lift up the Michelin I was replacing and the truck tire I was buying. Truck tire was MUCH heavier. I liked that. Truck tire shop prices are usually about $1000 less than the prices above. I like that, too.

I too went with Firestone. Could not be happier.

Might check on firestone as well. I put firestones on mine the last time instead of Michelin‘s. Firestone is it giving me good service and they had a really good price.
