Traveling with battery inside

I want to transport a deep cycle battery in the outside storage compartment that has no outside venting. The problem is there is an opening to the inside living area of the RV so if there is any fumes they will get to us. My question is, if the battery is not connected to anything will it produce any fumes ?

Agree, no problem. I remember years ago getting acid holes in my coat after carrying batteries, nowadays it doesn't seem to happen. The battery caps must be tighter than they used to be. Maybe I keep them cleaner.

I wouldn't use a closed container. You can make a harmless bit of flammable gas into a bomb by enclosing it.

Exactly. A Battery Box. Then pack stuff around the battery box so it can't slide around and possibly get up enough speed to overturn. Even empty cardboard boxes. We might panic stop faster than we'd accelerate so start out with it "flat" (long side) against the front end of the compartment.

The simple answer to your question is "No" - it will not out-gas or cause any problems just carrying it inside the RV.

Just put it in a approved transport case like One Of These and you should have no problems transporting it.

If transporting a battery, get a plastic case/box for it with a lid. Usually most auto stores, or even a Wally World should have these in a size that will fit the battery. As stated above, batteries do leak, and battery acid isn't fun stuff to clean up.

There shouldn't be any fumes since it won't be hooked up to anything. However, be sure to put it in something like a plastic bag and then inside of a cardboard box. There always seems to be some acid on a battery and you don't need it getting on anything.

You aren't going to live with it there, just transport it. I see nothing wrong with that if it's not hooked to anything.
