Updating radios

We have a 99 Winnebago Adventurer & thinking about updating both radios to a newer model. The in dash radio will be easy, but I'm at a loss as how to change the outdoor radio. Anyone done that & how easy was it?

Thanks in advance for your input.

I also had a ten disk player tied to the dash radio. Trashed them both and and installed a new dash radio that was compatible with present day electronics, e.g. bluetooth, mp3 players, sat radio.

I couldn't even find a replacement dash radio because mine was hooked up to and controlled a 10 disc CD player that was up in one of the cabinets.....anyone ever ran into that?

Pull out the drawer that is under the frig and you will see the back of the outside radio.

Best buy has done several installs for me. Quality job at a reasonable price. I have heard there is variability from store to store on technical quality, but I have been totally satisfied.

Places that actually do installs can help a lot. Best Buy for example, has racks and racks of wiring adapter in their installation garage, just find your way back there with the old radio in hand and make nice to the tech.

Crutchfield online has all this stuff too, but then you have to know what you are looking for. I did a new radio and 4 speakers for my jeep from them, it was easy to get all the right stuff to hook everything up without cutting or splicing anything.

Just make sure that if your outdoor radio is mounted outside, it may actually be a marine radio. If so, then you will want to go back with another marine radio so weather won't hurt it.

If its an in-dash style outdoor radio, you may even find it easier than an in dash radio if it has good access. I don't know specifics on your model. I've seen them on tear drops and they were installed right behind a simple panel.
4 whopping cylinders on Toyota RV's. Talk about great getting good MPG. Also I have a very light foot on the pedal. I followed some MPG advice on Livingpress.com and I now get 22 MPG! Not bad for a home on wheels.

Radios are usually made in universal sizes to fit the hole size. So it is usually just a matter of pulling the old one out and putting the new one in. Some times you need to buy an adapter to match the wiring up. So it shouldn't be any different then changing the in dash radio.
