Does anybody have a theory as to why many used class B sprinters listed on RV Trader have so few miles on them?

Many under 10K.

A B can be too small for people, but they don't find that out till they used it for a while.
Everything is a compromise, until they figure out how to fit the interior of a 40' class into the exterior of a 22' B, you have to figure out how you use it and what space is essential. Just fuel mileage isn't a good enough reason to have a B.

Whenever there is a bunch of any kind of low mile, recent model vehicles around, you always have to consider natural disasters and the length of time it would take to repair the vehicles and "cleanse" the title. Flood vehicles are amongst the favorites because they can be easily made to look good (not be good) and can be plentiful and cheap. Carfax may not show a problem, but you can use it to see where a vehicle was during its life, and if it was someplace a disaster struck, at least you will have a hint to look at it very closely.

A truly amazing suggestion. Sadly, there's quite a collection on the internet of vehicles, including all sorts of RVs, flattened - far beyond recognition - following horrific accidents.

Based on the image you posted, if we had been up front, belted in as usual, traveling along the New Jersey turnpike in our Sprinter when a Walmart tractor trailer dozing at the wheel plowed into the back of it at full speed and flipped us onto our side, looks like we might have walked away from the accident. The drive of the limo got out and climbed up on top of the Sprinter to see if he could help the passengers. Tracy Morgan, by the way, filed suit against WalMart, not against the limo company. And not against Mercedes.

Getting back to the original question. Why are so many RVs of all types put up for sale with low mileage? People buy things like RVs and boats, and end up not using them for numerous reasons. We put about 12,000 miles a year on ours.

Some people buy them for the season instead of renting, then sell them off. Lots of foreign tourists tour the US that way.

My new to me Sprinter had low miles on it because the couple I bought it from used it to visit their daughter and grandchildren. The daughter didn't have a large enough home to house guests, so the grandparents drove up there, hooked up to house power, and slept in the Sprinter.

John- i saw your post on the roadtrekking facebookpage. criticizing sprinters on it is a no no. if you want an opinion I would not buy a sprinter based model. there is no question that a sprinter is the 'cream' of vans. if we were in a european country in which most people have diesel's and service is everywhere i would not hesitate to buy one.

however in North America where service on them is problematic in many places-no.

We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned,
so as to have the life that is waiting for us.

People buy them, do not enjoy them, so they sell them. Problem can be they did not maintain them. Sitting is not good.
