video wiring upgrade?

It's time to look into upgrading my audio/video in the main cabin.

Coach is a 2008 monaco knight 40skq.
It's a reversed layout front kitchen model.
The TV is on the back wall, above a fireplace.

Sat receiver and DVD/surround sound player are up front over the drivers seat in the overhead console.

I have 2 sets of RGB/LR component RCA cables going from the front to the TV.
I'd really really like to have HDMI...

Does anyone have a clue where Monaco ran these cables?
And how much coach has to be taken apart to get at them?
I can see that bundle of coax as thick as my arm vanishing down into the cabinet that the fireplace is in...
The raised rail frame area in the basement is completely sealed off...

Nice post lvylog. That would do the job for most of us. From the little I've read the composite cables may be just a little less sharp than HDMI but the difference may require a much larger TV than RVs have.

Use a pair of these, they work. Convert your coax (I assume you have one run plus antenna from the video cabinet to your tv location at least) to HDMI. I stream video from the cable modem in the cabinet over my dash to a smart Blu Ray player in the bedroom using coax to cat 5 convertors similar to these.

Coax to HDMI converters.

It supports 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p. Thick and flexible PVC jacket with color coded connectors for easy connection. 24K gold plated connectors is for better signal transfer.

To elaborate...

OP can send either 720p or 1080i (both HD) over RGB and Dolby Digital 5.1 PCM over either or both of the LR. No need for any sort of converter at either end.

Unless the destination tv is HUGE or OP sits closer than arms length to it, the difference between 1080i and 1080p will never be detectable. If source signal is satellite or cable, it's 1080i anyway. Very little 1080p is broadcast because very little 1080p TV content is recorded.

For movies, get a Roku or Chromecast plug it in behind the TV, no cable fishing needed.

It can't be used for HD signals.

Who says?

You're right. There are composite to HDMI converters. Have you tried one?

Cat 6a cables. You can run anything you want over it using various inexpensive adapters.

Most likely you can do nothing about replacing the coax with hdmi

No, but you can run HDMI over coax with either a DISH Hopper or DirecTV Genie setup.
The Genie with a SWM dish does support 7 HD channels on coax. The gotcha is you must have a SWM dish.

My Genie HR44 receiver is as stated mounted above the TV and has a HDMI cable to the TV. For one month I also had a HR24 on the coax and could record 5+2 channels.

FYI The HDMI cable to the TV allows the HR44 to automatically adjust the TV settings when I move the receiver between house and rig.

BTW Before you do anything look up the report that DTV will drop SD transmission in 2019. This seems reliable.

Also saw a suggestion that might happen to Dish but not sure if it's reliable.

On my kitchen forward rig the cables are all over the ceiling. Since I have a cabinet over the TV that is where my new DTV receiver and dish controller reside. Receiver mounted vertically and uses a RF remote.

The Monaco RCA player is up front with RCA cables to the TV. The TV is HD but the Monaco installed SD dish and receiver was not???

You could go HDMI wireless or move the receiver as I did.

Lots of options.
