Interesting trick with the small ice makers. After starting, let the first couple of ice loads just go back into the water reservoir. they usually are small, and it cools the water faster, making better ice.

Have used an Emerson refurbished unit from Walmart for 4 years. Cost $69 pickup price. Still working and has long ago paid for itself.

We use one like it at the goose club. Use bottled water, turn it on and ice starts coming out in about 30 minutes.

We have used ours for several years now and love it. Bought it at Sams for about $80 bucks. Use it at home and in the RV both. It is quite heavy to move, so may get another.

I agree it's a great idea though.

I have similar unit made by Emerson purchased 5 years ago from Target for $100+. Works great and I use it year around at home and on the road. Paid for itself many times over.
