Welcome thoughts on 2005 Holiday Rambler Endeaver

2005 38 FT, excellent condition, 400 ISL Cummins, 43,000 miles, limited options, carpet (no tile) new rubber all around. I read another post somewhere about them "not driving well" because it swayed all over the road or something. I can get in for about $80K.

We just bought a 2005 Holiday Rambler. Ours is a gasser so that is a big difference and I cant speak with any knowledge about the chassis. What I can talk about is the build quality of the 2005 HR. So far everything is checking out real nice. The fit and finish are very good on ours. Everything works as it should and everything is easy to use. So far we are super happy with the motorhome. I spent hours this week detailing it and found nothing to fix other than some scratches.

I don't know what you had in the past but for us this rig was a big jump up in quality. I am sure that is in part to it being 10 years newer than the last MH and also in part due to HR making a quality unit.

We have the same coach in the Diplomat.

1. Good ISL 400 engine and Allison 3000 transmission combo.
2. Norcold 1200LRIM -- replace with Amish CU or residential.
3. Rides fine. May want to consider Koni FSD shocks.
4. Replaced the front TV with a 32" flat screen. I made the cherry frame to match. Installed the Travler HD dish with DirecTV.
5. Installed 200W solar on roof.
6. Just replaced water heater.
7. Replaced water pump and now carry a spare.
8. Will need to have roof caps repainted -- cracking is common for this model after 8 years.
9. Check DOT tire dates. You may still have the original Goodyears. I updated with the FMCA Michelin tires at 7 years.
10. Replaced slide toppers with Tuff Top.
11. Added Pressure Pro TPMS and Vmspc.
12. One of the better coaches for that year IMHO.

Probably one of the best coaches you can buy in that era, and comes with a 400 ISL. I sent you a PM.

Here is a post with over 1300 replies about RR8R handling. But mainly earlier units. Our 2009 is fine.

We have a 2006 - 40 ft Endeavor with the 400 ISL. DH says it drives really well.

That time frame was good for Monaco. Drive the unit and see if it handles to your liking.

That is a lot of engine for a 38 ft., it should handle the hills quite well. The TV's may need updating and surely check the tire date codes.

Good luck,
MM.

I read that post too, BUT it has the RR8R chassis which is a good handling rig. Could have been as simple as the toe in too much. I would not worry about the handling so if the rest checks out, and you like it, buy it.
This post is my opinion (free advice). It is not intended to influence anyone's judgment nor do I advocate anyone do what I propose.
