Need a few areas that need welded on my motorhome, such as generator exhaust bracket and some heat shields on headers where the weld has broke, I own a small 20 amp welder and do small projects but never welded on any auto's or motorhomes, have heard the computer can have issues if not grounded, do I just disconnect the RV battery or what.

I'd be sure to unplug all electronics and protect the engine's computer as well.

You could ruin a lot of expensive electronics if you do it wrong.

Yes I have read on welding forums to keep ground near where I am welding, however its a 50/50 on disconnect of battery ground, some say yes other say it don't matter.

If you feel safer, by all means take a couple minutes and do it. I however have welded on both the truck and fiver without disconnecting and had no problems. A g ood ground near where your welding should be enough.
