It's going to be 60+ยฐF and sunny today. Think I'll strip off the plastic rock guard from the drivers side headlight. Did that the last time it was warm on the passenger side headlight. Spring is slowing spring. Some of the local lakes are now ice free.

Yesterday finally drove it back to the dealer where I puchased it in Feb to get the Power Gear jacks working - part of the deal when I bought it.

While talking to the RV tech there found out that the work I done previously at an "authorized" Fleetwood dealer was pretty pricey. ( I didn't go to where I bought it from as they are further away - what I saved on gas cost me plenty on service costs!)

Example,to recertify the propane, at the Fleetwood dealer cost me $398, he charges $250. He also pointed out that they did the wrong type of certifiction as the plate on the tank was not updated (they certified it as a propane powered vehicle!).

Live and learn, next time I will be taking it back to the dealer I purchased from - labour is $35 an hour cheaper and he knows his stuff.

Hi Chris
You mention that you got your propane certified. As there is no requirement for this in Ontario I'm wondering why you would have this done. I understand it is desirable to have the system checked regularly by qualified people but I don't understand the "certificate".

According to the propane dealer, tanks over a certain age must be re-certified and date stamped - same as the portable tanks. Otherwise they can refuse to fill it. I have been told the same thing at two different places. I had been turned down on a older 20lb tank a couple of years ago, so I figured this was also required for RVs (MH) tanks.

Is there any source you can provide me so I can tell them to stuff it five years from now?
Thanks

Chris

Finished packing her for the trip. Even with three of us going, it's amazing how little we put on board. Empty compartments everywhere.

HAve my coach in to the closest dealer to have a new muffler put on the generator and to have the propane certified. They wouldn't fill it here at home(Ontario) the last time but I had it filled in Florida in February.

Not much. The DW shampooed the couch, I finally was able to get the water heater to work properly, and was able to find the minor oil leak. When the previous owner had the oil changed they didn't put the oil filter on correctly. Good excuse to change the oil and make sure it is on right.

Today I removed all of the bad rubber roofing from the previous owners recovering. I think he thought that he did a good job with it. The rubber coating just didn't hold up, and it's supposedly a year and a half old re-roof. Nevertheless, the rubber hasn't held up. The 5 gallons of Pro-Guard Rubber Roof is here. I will put that on tomorrow.

I have learned a good lesson here. A bad roof job is worse than no roof job. Why? Because it forces water into places you wouldn't imagine and then keeps it there to fester and rot your motorhome. Lucky for me there isn't any real rot damage that I can find (keeping finger crossed). I'm letting the raw (old, original, crappy) roof dry out in the sun till tomorrow.

Second lesson: Not impressed with engineering of RV's. I have owned 4 and none of them were built to last, in my opinion. And, when I walk the lot at RV dealerships I don't see that the brand new ones are any better, unless your talking about the high end stuff, which I don't see in my future. In the summer of 2012 (pole-shift excluded, LOL) we plan to upgrade to a newer, much nicer class A or possibly a real nice C. I hope to find one that was well built for the start..
