This is always a fun thread to watch, so I thought I would start one here.

I changed the engine oil & filter. I changed the generator oil & filter & plugs & removed the broken starter drive bits from the generator internals and drove the starter to Cummins Bridgeway GR for a new drive kit. Those gentlemen removed my old drive kit and installed the new kit for me, on site, while I waited. I have had a great experience with Bridgeway GR. They even helped me recycle my used oil. Literally helped me dump the oil & continue to drain the filters. Nice. I showed up at a great time of day, about 4:40pm. I'm sure that was a factor. Everyone was looking to be real helpful and rise to the challenge.

Then I scraped the old spray foam from the black tank bottom in anticipation of sticking on the tank heater. Next up is the grey tank. Thats a *nasty* job. The foam is like fiberglass and it comes off along with what appears to be a primer.

We just sat and enjoyed the day in Laughlin. No repairs and nothing broke. It was a great day.

After nearly pulling out what little hair I have left over several days of trying, I finally figured out the manual locate satellite antenna system that came on our new unit this afternoon. Don't think this is going to last very long as I got spoiled with the automatic system I had on the unit I just traded.

Changed out 4 of the 30 amp power relay's. Tightened all the loose grounds here.
Looked at the 50 amp power relay's in the under part with the other grounds. Found out that some were not tightened down and very loose, almost not even connected at some points. Cleaned and tightened them down. May just replace the whole transfer case at once instead of just the relays. Appearently it's about $60 per 50 amp relay and only $150 for the whole transfer case that they are in with the relay's.

Alot of intermentent "ghost" problems can be attributed to loose wires and grounds. Why not start at the start of the wiring and making sure things are connected right at the that part, this way you know it's not that and its easier to then find the real problem if there then ends up being one.

The power cord we found out has a bad plug end, went to replace the plug end and decided to look at all the utility/service center and where it plugs in there. Took that all apart and found some shoddy rewiring. Of course Thom will not go thru and figure out why they did what they did and why they did it so badly, lol. Thom just can not let bad repairs go without fixing them correctly.

Changed the oil, filter and air filter on the generator. First oil change and the oil filter was a bugger to get off! I didn't change the gas filter because the gen seems to be running fine without any surges or skips. However, have one in my tool box just in case.

There is no reason why you can't use this on a front door motorhome. Just open it up after you close the door. Any chance you drew up some plans on this? It looks great!

I drew it up in google sketchup first. I modeled it so that it could still utilize the existing storage by putting it on top. I could provide the measurements. It weighs a little more than I would like but it's not too bad. It weighs 45 lbs. the heavy duty drawer slides add alot and the 3/4 ply on the outside layer, they could have been 1/2" .

Hooked up a Power over Ethernet SIP IP Telephone to my corporate Microsoft OCS phone system via my 12V 3G full time internet. As well from my laptop I can do audio/video web conferencing and share my desktop.

Replaced the Leece Neville alternator with a Delco Remy 28SI, installed a new solar panel controller, 2 six volt ACDelco batteries, drained and filled the water tank and checked the tire pressures.

Been touching up all the woodwork with wood stain all day;apart from a short break for a coffee and a brandy,think I will reward myself with a cold one now as it is nearly 6 o'clock!

Plowed a foot of snow from the front of it's shed and plowed the rest of the driveway (1/4 mile). Maybe I'll take 'er for a spin south one of these days.:W

Battery servicing day today. 30 degrees (C) but they are on the shady side of the rig.

Fought with the battery trays, finally turned the hose on them to wash out all the dirt fine gravel and road dust.

Washed the dirt and fine gravel off the tops of the 2 chassis batteries as well so the crud wouldn't fall inside. Some bright spark designed these batteries with the caps in a well!

One of the + terminals was covered in the blue/green crud. Cleaned all the terminals, greased and replaced them. Checked electrolyte levels MY BAD! Knew I should have checked them sooner: The top 1/8 inch of the plates in every cell uncovered :E

Added distilled water (which I had bought for the purpose 6 weeks ago!!!!!:S) put on the charger to stir it up (5 hours later the 40A charger says still at 75%. This is common with these two batteries and this charger--batteries in parallel are too big, charger thinks the batteries are taking too long to charge and kicks off--usually just after we have gone to bed, the Beep. . . . Beep. . . .Beep. . . eventually wakes me up!) If not to 100% by bed time I'll pull the plug and finish in the morning. Will check the SG tomorrow when they're all charged up.

Removed (have to take out the front 2 in order to access the back two!) and tested all the house batteries (4 group 24 marine/rv type--waiting for them to fail so I can justify the expense of a new battery tray and 4 GCs :B) Electrolyte fine, SG reading a bit strange--off the scale at the high end! Will see how the SG on the Chassis batteries compares. May be only a wonky hygrometer :h.

Cleaned all connectors and put back in the tray which slid in very easily after spraying with silicone spray.

Then had lunch followed by a nap:Z.

This Snowbird (or rather Rainbird) life is sure tough. 🙂
