Where is Best Discounted Pricing on Precept 31UL (w/lowest shipping costs)
I'm looking for a new Jayco Precept 31UL and want to get the absolute lowest price I can find as I am in no hurry and can fly anywhere to pick it up and drive it back in order to save the freight costs. I'm looking for suggestions as to which DISCOUNT RV DEALERS anyone would care to suggest. And if you wish to recommend a sales person to call, so much the better. Thank you

All you can do is shop online and try to negotiate the best deal from the comfort of your own chair. Consider the shipping in all transactions as RV shipping gets $. Also consider the gas alone to drive it back from many states away (plus airfare).

Op isn't buying a $250k coach. It's MSRP is $125 which puts the range at about $80-90k. Every MH purchaser deals with the scenario you mention. This is not news. You know when you are getting the best deal when you have the lowest number from all dealers. Period. MH manufacturers and dealers are not in the game to give MH's away. They have a profit model. Also, MSRP isn't the only number to leverage. There's MAP too. You get south of MAP and you have a decent deal. if I look at 100 of the same of anything and I buy the cheapest one, that's how I know I got the best deal. Did the dealer and the manufacturer make money? - Yes. It's how they make a living and pay workers and contribute to the economy. It's not that complicated.

My issue is how can you know if you are getting the best deal without knowing the true, actual dealer invoice cost. Unlike every other motor vehicle it is almost impossible to get that information for a MH. Instead we all are forced to deal down from MSRP, a number that can vary from dealer to dealer. The cardinal rule for buying a motor vehicle is to deal up from invoice not down from MSRP. There are numerous pricing resources when buying a car or truck such as kbb.com, edmunds.com or buying a price guide from Consumer Reports. Saying that offering 25 - 30% off of MSRP for a MH means nothing. A 5% difference off a $250,000 is $12,500!

Your best bet in shopping for any new MH, is research. Do as much on line shopping as you can. Whittling down the places with the best advertised price and then call them. ASk them for their best price. Let each one know you are shopping and you plan to call every dealer you can for their best price. Keep a log or spreadsheet. Once you have a few numbers the rest of the dealers are easy beacuse you can pit one against another. "I can get it here for X and you want to charge me Y. Can you beat it? " Eventually you may be able to go back to the first person you called and see if they can do better. You will get to a point where you are within a few grand of one another. Now the other critical piece - you will need service. So, if you have a decent place within driving limits of your home that is worth a few grand. Not to mention it serves local business. Best places to start for numbers is CW, Lazy days and True value. Take those numbers and start calling the local ones. Let them know you have no problem getting a one way ticket for $300 to go across the country for a better deal. I bought my last coach over the phone and had all my numbers from about 8 dealers, got a screaming deal. The process took about 3 hours. I called places within a 1000 mile radius and made my best deal within 100 miles. I feel confident I got the best price anyone was going to give me. It was funny that some won't play the game. I had a huge dealer who was $2k over everyone else. Despite telling them my other deals, they wouldn't budge. They also had bad reviews. Do research on the dealer too. BBB, Yelp, Yahoo etc. Don't save a few bucks working with a dealer who can make for a miserable experience. I tried a CW once, worst experience I have EVER had buying anything. Better deal and I still walked. They were awful. But they have decent numbers.

Oh and watch for anything a dealer may try and sneak in. Had a dealer give me the best number I had. When I got the written quote it had $2k PDI and $500 dealer fees tacked to the bottom. I didn't even call them back. get the out the door number and ask about PDI. You should NOT be paying for that.
