Anyone know? Freightliner guy told me everything after the turbo is made by the motor home manufacturer. Since I cant get Tiffin to give me an answer I am looking elsewhere. Anyone have any good places for this stuff?

I have to drive my RV since the change and was a little skeptical about the claims on the box of the muffler. Buy hey, if you think it feels 50 to 70 HP high and you are getting better mileage that all sounds good to me.

BTW the extra mileage worked out to 178 gallon savings on one trip that I take multiple times a year. It paid for itself three trips.

Funny, I had Cumins put the resonator on to replace my boat anchor muffler. Less restriction, higher turbo and /10 of a mile a gallon better. Oh and it runs cooler too and feels like about 50-70 HP more.

We had the steel 5" flexline rust through...any truck supply place handles parts, as do many NAPA and other auto parts stores. If you are replacing a flexline I highly recommend replacing with stainless steel...will last longer.

It sounds like things will work out ok for you.

And while your messing with that exhaust system you might want to get rid of the heavy, boat anchor, muffler under there. Lots of diesel pusher owners are going with the Aero AT5050XL. It is everybit as good as any OEM muffler and a lot lighter.

I think the cost from the dealer will knock you over....

If you're not far from Wildwwod FL there is a great shop there that makes up all the pipes on site, very reasonable.

I did end up calling Gaffney (thanks wolf10) and they confirmed the whole exhaust is from freightliner. They sent me a parts list and diagrams and they asked me who told me that after the turbo it was the RV mfg. They then contacted that dealer and set his parts guy straight. The guy did email me and all is good. I think the mix up is simply that the person at the dealer is not too familiar with the custom chassis side of things.

I had a situation last summer, where I found that the exhaust pipe had broken and pulled away from the turbo. I went to Cummins and they said the same thing, and don't do any thing past the turbo. I was in Lethbridge, Alberta and took it to Minute Muffler, and the job they did was great. They put a complete exhaust system on, right down to a new stainless tip, which I requested. I would never have thought that they could handle a job like that. I was happy, happy, happy. Macktee

Living in a small town not close to anything requires some rigging so I've made my own for my big trucks. It's probably a 5" system and you can buy elbows and straight pipe sections that clamp together or you can weld. NAPA or O'Reilly carries them and they run $30-$40 for elbows. These clamps are really good and are SS. You can find mufflers for less than $100.
This post is my opinion (free advice). It is not intended to influence anyone's judgment nor do I advocate anyone do what I propose.

Our experience was very positive. Last spring we were in Bakersfield and contacted CAT for exhaust repair; they referred us to Freightliner in Bakersfield. Freightliner could not gret us in for 2 weeks, so they referred us to TEC Services, a custom speed shop PLUS+ and they got us in the next day. Long story short, they fabricated parts needed and problem solved...not to be seen or heard again...Treated very well by a local business. Wherever you may be try local reference from local rv dealer. Good luck.
