Axis/Vegas isn't built on a van chassis, so it's not a class C. It'a a class A. Argue all you want, fact is, it's an A. And a very nice unit.

Personally I agree with both Winnebago and Thor. The RUV being a marketing term for their short class A. It is built from the ground on a chassis and did not start out as a van. Same with the Winnebago Via. They start with a chassis regardless of engine size and build on top of it. The B+ moniker for a class c is just as confusing.

Love our 25 footer! Perfect size!! You haven't mentioned width, but we were limiting ourselves to 96" or less.

An RUV is a class A but on a C chassis. Ours is 94" wide.

You are right, the Sprinter queen slides are class C's. But Winnebago lists their Via as a class A diesel and at 25 feet and 90 " they have a queen model. Not many options in that small an A with a decent bed, which is what we were looking for too. As I said, most are around 27 feet, which was too big for us!

I am sure your RV is great but strictly speaking, the terms "RUV" and "Class A" are mutually exclusive. Thor should not even be marketing the RUV as a Class A in my opinion because it confuses buyers. RUV is a new class of RV and they need to market it that way.

That winnebago is also not a Class A. It is built on a Mercedes Van Chassis, and that means it is actually a class B. It's Diesel but it's 5 cylinder and even though it's deisel does not mean it's class A.

I do like the RUV's though but my wife wants a full width class A, on a true class A chassis, 25 feet or less. I am coming to the conclusion that no one makes one any more and that is sad.

We might end up buying a good condition used shorter Class A and putting lots of money into it to fix it up instead.

We love Winnies. Only problem is if they get picky at a park and it's longer than 25 it might be a problem. We have been to several parks over the years and the magic number for tight fits for RV's in some campgrounds seems to be 25 feet or less.

I'm sure yours handles great though!

The shorter the RV, the better, when it comes to state and national parks. We just went through exactly what your are considering.

But I believe 30' is a better target to shoot for....gives a lot more options on the RV side. We had a 32' fifth wheel, and I'd say at least 90% of the state parks worked out for us. Yes, some state parks were tight, but we usually found a spot. When we went to a 40' 5th, we probably could only get into 10-20% of the state parks, so we didn't even try anymore, and just went to private rv parks.

So we decided a 30' class A would be a good compromise. With class A, one gets bigger holding tanks too, something that was a requirement for us. Anyway, good luck on your search.

There is the Thor ACE 27, Winnie VISTA 26, and the Forest river FR3 25DS. You can step down to an RUV like the Thor Vegas or AXIS but it's not technically a Class A. Looks like an A but it's on the 350 chassis instead of the F53.

Just checked the FR3 25DS. The 2015 Forest River FR3 25DS measures approximately 26 feet 10 inches in length.

Too long...

Depends what type of bed you want. We were looking for short also. Found most of them were full sized or less, and did not want to sleep on an overhead bunk, couch,or corner bed.

Our Axis is an A and has an oversized king at 25 feet, but it is not a walk around bed. Was best solution for us.

There may be more used choices, but when we were looking for new we found you had to go to 27 feet for most walk around queen beds. You can get a 24ft Sprinter with the queen slide.

Sprinter does not make a Class A do they?

I thought Sprinters were a van chassis...

Would consider used. Reason why we would like 25, many campgrounds tight on space limit RV length to 25' or less...plus easier to get around mountain switchbacks.
