In your profile you show a picture of a 35U, and you mention the bed being in the slide, only the 35U had that in '01.

In a 35U, it's under the bed, just like the picture in the owner's manual above.

just look for the return air vent. The filter should be very close.
All of the Colemen Mach Units required a filter.

And all AC units even on the roof require air filter

I have two heat pump air intake filters accessed through two individual panels in the storage area under the bed. These filters should be changed approx. every 30 days, depending on heat pump usage. Filters are available at hardware stores , Lowes or Home Depot. Best to keep a couple of spares available.
The air return is below the desk/makeup shelf by the window at the foot of the bed. There is no filter installed.

Additionally Winnebago told me to not use the type filter that kind of looks like"cloth", but use ones that have more open area in the filter media. Like horse hair etc

On my 35U you had to replace the filter. Hit them at Lowes.

I have a 2004winne adventurer 38R . my filter is under the bed in a cut out area. The plywood cover has a finger hole in it, flat on the floor. Pull it up and u should see it may have a piece of foam over it to. Air on mine, looking at the bed from foot end will come in at floor level on right side.my bed also goes out in the slide.

Your filter may be in the nightstand on the passenger side of the bed. Not sure of the models, but I have seen it there.

Here is a picture from the 2001 Adventurer Owner's Manual

The filter is under the bed. You should see something like the top picture.

If you don't have an owner's manual, you can download one in PDF format from the Winnebago website.

Click on the Resource link, the Manuals & Diagrams link, the Operator Manuals link.
