I would agree that Winnebago has a serious problem with rust around the windshield. I have owned two Winne's and overall, I think they make a solid coach for the money. However, IMO there is a design flaw in how they install windshields in many of their coaches. My 2002 Journey had a rusted frame which broke the glass.

Winne sets the glass into the steel frame which is fine. However, they failed to finish the edge of the fiberglass that surrounds the opening. They leave a rough edge and a pretty big gap which requires placing a wide rubber trim piece to cover that gap. Water and dirt easily gets behind that rubber trim, especially at the top. That wet grit and crud sits there and rust is the result.

Just lift the rubber on the bottom of the windshield and see if their is rust in there. Most will have it as it is a winnebago problem.

This simply is not true not a major problem

Looks pretty major to me.

I have two Winnebagos, a 1999 35' Brave and a 2003 38' Adventurer, both have the problem. Fixed it on the Brave, still working on the Adventurer.

I bought a dehumidifier many years ago for my Winnebago. I put it on top of dashboard almost touching the windshield and I go out to the coach every 2-3 days and empty the tray that has 2-3 inches of water in it.

We had the same problem on our 08 and it was $900 to fix. As said looks like Winnebago should be helping.

Considering how many Winnebago's have this problem,it is a wonder that they are still in business!
I was warned off nearly 10 Years ago by a W Owner. They had the same problem and never did get any satisfaction.

Not an uncommon issue with Winnebago motor homes with the windshield installed in that steel with the rubber strip at the top. I had to replace the passenger side glass on our 2002 Journey for same problem but my rust was not that severe. That is a bad case of body cancer.

And no, unless it happens during the warranty period, Winne won't help with the cost. Cost me $1,000 to replace one glass and have the rust dealt with.

That is exactly what they are doing. Welding a new frame in.

Seems to me like all you'd have to do is weld in a new piece of metal - assuming your metal worker could hold the shape needed for the windshield. Maybe somebody more familiar with windshield replacements would know.

I had a cracked drivers side a while back and we also took out the passenger's side (it cracked and broke, of course) to take care of rust up at the top.
