We are headed for Yellowstone soon. Does anyone have any tips or experience camping in Yellowstone at the end of October? We have a 27 foot Class C Winnebago.

Someone mentioned snow. We camped there 27 years ago in mid June and got run off by snow (6" in one night). The next day we heard they closed roads that were not passable. It can snow at any time in Yellowstone.

We made it through Yellowstone. We really got lucky on the weather. It was beautiful and nooooo crowds. Walked in and got a campsite at Mammoth Springs. I wouldn't want to do it at a time it was packed. I hate crowds. Thanks for all the advice.

We are going for it. Staying tonight in Snake River Campground. Looks like some snow but warm enough during the day. Thanks for replies especially the one referring me to previous posts.

You could try to get into "Bakers Hole"....it does close in Oct but the date varies. Nice place with electric hook ups at some sites, water at the entrance, no sewer.

We were in YNP last week, roads were fine and many businesses still open in West Yellowstone. Many of the facilities in the park are closed down but camping is still open in a few places, the RV sites in West are still operating though. We enjoyed the park very much since traffic was minimal and lots of animals to see. Take your tire chains and some extra blankets just in case the weather turns bad though.

Not sure if any campgrounds will be open by then except Mammoth, which is open all year (no hookups). Significant snowfall this week; most park roads are closed right now. They officially close for the season on November 6; Snow Lodge has the Geyser Grill open (food but no lodging) at Old Faithful until that date. Everything else (lodging, food) is closed as of this past Sunday. (We left there Saturday.) Overnight temps significantly below freezing. You'll need to check with each campground in West Yellowstone individually to see if any are open; Grizzly RV just closed and the original KOA and Buffalo Run CG were already closed before last week. Good luck!

Be prepared for snow. Check the webcam at Old Faithful... not a lot of snow, but they have closed some of the roads inside the park over the past two weeks due to snow.

Look for most all the businesses in West Yellowstone to be closed for the winter.

you MIGHT find a campsite at Mammoth campground, but most likely, you'll have to find an rv park outside the park. West Yellowstone, MT has several rv parks, so maybe one of them is open.
