Due to the limited spaces on most counters what is the best solution for coffe machines?

We use a Melitta pour over adapted to a 10 cup insulated carafe at home and a quart+ size thermos on the road. It makes absolutely the best coffee. You get the water hot enough (which any auto drip will not). With the thermos I can take it out under the awning outside and it stays hot. Then if it is a travel day it goes in the truck.
Good coffee is a HIGH priority for me and my lovely and this is the best.
After you make it dump the grounds and the little plastic Melitta cone goes in the coffee drawer.
Easy peasy.

Really comes down to personal priorities. Some are more picky about their coffee than others. Our Keurig sits on the counter by the door. There is a little triangle behind the sink that was "wasted space". The Keurig sits well in there and I have access to the cabinet I keep the 1 gallon jugs of "coffee water". I can easily step inside the camper to get a "heater".

And by the way, the Melitta cone is only $5 on amazon including delivery. It's plastic and lightweight. No issue of breaking.

We use Starbucks Via's, very simple and good coffee for instant. Got the Melitta pour over for Christmas, found it to be very slow and coffee was weak. Just got a french press yesterday and had a couple of cups of very rich delicious coffee, going to get another for the trailer. We also camp with out hook ups so we don't use a coffee machine!

How can the melitta pour over be weak? You control the amount of coffe grounds you put in it, just as you would a regular drip coffee maker! Slow? It takes all of less than a minute to drip.

It's all about priorities for us. Coffee machine has permanent spot everything else is temporary.

We have a small Rival 12 cup thatdoesn't take up too much space. ($6 at Walmart) No fancy stuff, just a on/ off button. Run low on power and we can heat the water on the stove and pour it over the grounds manually.

Yeah, where to put the coffee pot can be an issue. We have a small counter top above our fridge we put it on.

Since DH drinks decaf and I don't, for years we used two four-cup Mr. Coffees. They sat side by side on a tray on the counter. They didn't take up any more room than one big pot. We have since gotten a Keurig and we each have our own coffee. That works well. On the same try, so it is the same footprint actually.

Do you have full electric, or are you using the stove top? Do you drink a lot of coffee?

For limited space, it is hard to beat a French Press for making around 4 mugs of coffee at a time - and tastes great!

For a lot of coffee, we use a 14 cup stainless percolator on the stove top.

Hi,

I found a 4 cup drip type maker with a metal pot. Draw is 400 watts and it uses about 7 amp-hours for a brew.
