Recently we discovered a coffee new to us that we really like. It is sold in HEB stores in south Texas. Independence Coffee Co roasts it and it is called Madalyns Backyard Pecan. Try it --- I'm sure you'll like it.

We get ours from CaffeineCuisine.com. It is the freshest roast you can get. Several varieties and whole bean or custom ground.

Another vote for Community Coffee. Our Cajun friends from the Lafayette, La area recommended it. I use the 1/2 Caffeine & don't make it too strong. Smooth & not bitter. Could drink it all day but limit myself to two cups.

C'mon guys, let's show a little finesse here. Boil 3 scoops and a horseshoe, when the horseshoe floats it's ready to drink. My wife being a city girl won't have it that way so I have to tone it down a little.

I don't drink coffee often, only when hunting or camping. However, when I do drink coffee, this is the way I like it. No cream, sugar or any froo-froo flavorings needed or wanted.

Have to watch the caffeine consumption too. Tried decaf but didn't wake up for two months! Now my favorite is Maxwell House Lite after trying just about every brand of half caf.

Simple plane old coffee. No flavors and black only.

My Dr. has told me to keep the BP down and regular at 11 cups a day brings it up.
So now I do a 50/50 mix of regular and decaf.
BP now back where it should be and I have my coffee.

The last time this topic came up, several people mentioned WalMart's Great Value Columbian. We've used it ever since.

Freeze dried.

Various brands. All good. Yes, you need boiling water poured over the coffee, but different brands all brew up well.

When in Australia, I found freeze dried whenever I looked, small town or Sydney, Melbourne sized suburb.

One thing you people might find fun to do is to occasionally hit up a local roaster in different cities. It is amazing the different flavors in coffees that are out there. And I don't mean "flavored Coffees", I mean different flavors in coffees from different regions and different roasting techniques. Speaking of one cup makers....there is this real cool little metal cone called a Kaleta.....at least I think it's spelled like that. Make for one cup. We ordered enough filter to last until I retire. There is another called a V60 and again, the same idea...one cup cone type. If one were to look at an up-scale coffee vendor on line like "Whole Latte Love" or "Seattle Coffee Roasters" I am sure you would find every kind of brew method in the world! Once you open the door beyond Star-bucks and Peet's, you will find a lot of different ways to brew coffee. Personally I use a Stainless Steel French Press coffee maker. French Press Coffee Makers really make Cowboy coffee....pretty unrefined.

We buy Harris Teeter (grocery store brand). It ranges in price between about $5.50-6 for a can (270 servings) of it. WE used to buy Starbucks, Seattle's best and etc, but it's a pain in the butt and costs twice as much and you get less than half the amount. WE use a coffee maker at home and the melitta pour over cones in the RV. We do have a keurig at home, but do not use it on a regular basis. Is it convenient? Yes, if you are using k cups. If you are refilling the reusable filter type cups, then it's no more convenient. It's still something you have clean out and you can make a couple cups in a regular coffee pot. A lot of people that have keurigs argue that they are the only one to drink coffee or don't want to make a whole pot. Well who said you have to make a whole pot of coffee? Put less coffee and water in and make less. Then you have the cost of the keurig machine ($80) vs a standard mr coffee coffee pot you can get for $10. K cups cost on average about 50 cents a piece. Our store brand coffee comes out to about 5 cents a cup (2 cents coffee and 3 cents paper filter. If you have reusable filter then cut the cost even more).

We love cowboy made coffee. Throw 3 - 4 scoops in the water, put it over the camp fire, when it boils ( use the side of the fire pit as you do not want a vigorous boil). take it off the fire for a few min and let the grounds settle then enjoy!!

I agree! I bought this giant blue speckled enameled coffee pot from Cabelas, don't even know how much it holds, half gallon anyway. I bring right to a boil and take it off and dump one slightly rounded cup of good old Folgers and let it sit for like 10 minutes. Then we start pouring. It's great for camping trips when there is several in the camp. It never seems to run out of coffee.

We use Sams Club Hazelnut.

Drip I get pea berry Kona medium roast ordered from a Hawaii plantation. Very expensive very high in caffeine. Not for fire pit coffee.
