conventional ovens

Hi everyone.
I know this sounds odd, but here goes. We just picked up a new camper and it has a conventional oven. I have never used one, and it has a round turn table in it. So does this mean I have to get glass ware to cook with?
I have no idea on how to use one. Could you share?

Ok so stop laughing!

Thank you all! The butternut or acorn squash sounds wonderful! We're off this Friday for the weekend. Wish me luck

We love our Sharp micro-convection oven but they do take a bit of getting used to. Ours came with a manual and it made it easy to learn all the functions that these little marvels can perform.

I had never used a convection oven either and did not get a manual. I went online and put in the make and model and found the owners manual. I printed a copy which had the instructions for how to use the different features. I have been baking in the convection oven for 2 years now and love it. Either reduce your temp by 25 degrees, or use the temperature recommended in the recipe but reduce the time by 5 minutes. Mine browns things faster also, so just watch things as you are first learning to use it.

That rig should have come with an instruction book on the oven. It is probably a combination microwave/convection oven. In convection mode, you can use metal pans, but not in microwave mode. It'll take some learning how to use it, but they are great cooking devices.

Hey, a suggestion for a main dish to be made in that oven: cut a butternut or acorn squash in half lengthwise -- stem to flower end, remove the seeds, drop in a dollop of butter or margarine, a spoonful of brown sugar, and bake in a baking dish or pie pan at 375 until tender, maybe 40 minutes. Eat with a spoon or fork, 1/2 squash per person. Almost as sinful as eating desert for the main course.

Kerri,
Convection ovens are similar to a regular oven with the addition of a fan that moves the heated air in the oven. You can use metal or glass, OVEN PROOF GLASS, just like a regular oven. Usually convection cooks faster and can use slightly lower heat. I'm guessing you're oven is a microwave/convection which means you can use either or both at one time. (watch the metal on micro)

Kerri, do you mean "convection"?
