I've made lots of dinners in the crockpot while camping but never while travelling. My crockpot fits perfectly in the kitchen sink & I will probably roll up the oven mitts & jam into the corners of the sink for added stability. I am wondering how to secure the lid. I am sure it would slide off & smash (its glass) onto the floor during a sudden turn or hard brake. Or should I forget about using the crockpot lid & just use aluminum foil?
I put my lid on upside down so it won't slide off. I love stopping to a nice slow cooked meal.

Get a couple of small bungee cords. Hook them under the handles on each side of the crockpot and position them across the top with the lid knob between them. You could also use one longer cord, hook around a handle, loop it under the opposite handle, and take it back across the lid.
If your crockpot doesn't have handles on the sides, you will have to hook under the bottom some how.
