Midwest Breaded Pork Tenderloin Sandwiches

Years ago, I hauled my deep-fryer to a campground and made deep-fried breaded pork tenderloin sandwiches for a Class B RV group outdoors.



I finally completed my recipe tutorial that I use to have in another form on a website that died a year ago. It is an illustrated PDF document packed with useful information in 14 pages. If you are a midwesterner and know about pork tenderloin sandwiches or if you are curious, here it is.

Nice tutorial. Looks like my German grandmother's Wiener schnitzel as you mention. She pan fried.
I don't deep fry anything, but get a similar result oven baking with the glass dish painted with a bit of oil and a silicone brush and olive oil misted on the panko covered meat, turning half way thru baking at a moderately high temp, a few minutes on each side. I use the convection setting in the conventional oven for a crispier crunch.

Leo, Not sure where LOZ is. Like any sandwich you can get a good or bad one. Made right, they can be moist and tender. I hope my recipe tutorial answers that. Odd though, people have different taste and some like them very thin and very crispy.

Growing up I knew tenderloins were a regional thing, but I was not really aware that Nicks was the the original untill years ago somebody on the internet went crazy for them. I actually had only been to Nick's Kitchen just a few times my whole 54 year old life... But thats not to say we have not always been huge fans of the breaded tenderloin... Like I mentioned above, just about every bar, independent restaurant has them here. There are several here that in my opinion stand up above the average and sorry (I know you Luv Nicks) is kind of sub par in my honest opinion... Their onion rings are great...! 🙂

I had heard about these sandwiches, on here I guess, and tried one at a restaurant at LOZ somewhere. I was really disappointed. Bland. Fairly dry. Not tender. Utterly unremarkable.

I never thought too much about it,... but just about every restaurant in our town serves a tenderloin sandwich... Of course I live in Huntington Indiana the home of the tenderloin... 🙂

I had a website porktenderloinsandwich.com until a year ago when Apple abandoned its MobileMe webhosting. I just never moved it to another host. A lot of the tutorial was culled from my blog postings. So that might have been what you saw.

Do you open the site and just see a blank screen? Maybe you have PDF viewing within your browser disabled. Do you see a download button? The download button actually downloads the document to your computer otherwise it is just like visiting any other website and the document goes away when you leave the page.
