Today's Smoke

Well, after reading about "favorite burger seasonings" all week, I decided that pastrami is one of my favorite hamburger seasonings. LOL! My wife found some corned beef rounds on sale for St. Patrick's Day so one of them went in the smoker this morning for some pastrami to be used with tonight's burgers. I saw a recipe where a guy smoked his burgers too, so, I'm contemplating that as well. Photos to come.

We polished off the last of the pastrami last night and decided to go deli style. Best Ruben sandwiches, ever.

Steamed and covered in cheese:

Home made sauce, dark rye and some sauerkraut:

Ready, set, go!

When every thing is said and done I think the 'strami burger with accoutrements falls under the category of hard core food porn.
Suspecting what I'd see in advance I placed my nun's habit on before re-opening this thread...

You're KILLING me.
Just finished talking to a fellow local camper who is also smoking a brisket (she lives in NJ; land of backyards)this weekend. We've been conversing about the pros/cons of different spices and meat cuts in the process for the last week or so. Somehow been able to make it through the discussion w/o having my drool short out the telephone wire;
then comes YOUR pic.

You are all evil and I think the man is gonna have to make a trip to Katz's (That's right. Not Carnegie's) before the weekend is out:R :D.

ALMOST hate to do this after that comment, but not really. I couldn't wait any longer so I had to go in. My mouth is singing.

You can't post pics of food like that without telling us where you are parked! :B

And first time smoking a hamburger. I smoked at 220 degrees for approx. 45 minutes and then reverse seared on the grill.

Caramelized some onions and mushrooms for a topping.

Now for the layering!

Pastrami:

Smoky Provolone cheese:

And the big finish with the onions & shrooms:
