19 volt TV

I'm in the process of installing a 32" tv in my Winnebago. My Samsung has an external AC to DC adapter. I was hopeful that I would be able to get an adapter to run it on 12v until I saw the adapter output of 19 volts. I'm guessing that it won't operate on 13 or so volts. Is that correct?

I think I will be able to use my little inverter to operate it in a pinch, but it sure would be convenient to have a direct to DC capability.

I thought a 32 inch would be almost too big as a replacement or the 19 inch square TV. As it turns out, I could have gone quite s bit bigger. This TV is nice because it only weighs 7 pounds.

I used to be on that 12v tv road, till I got smart.
Been running them on MSW inverter for years now, never a problem, and don't even notice the fraction of an amp more 12v burn.

Sorry, I have no knowledge of the power usage of the device. It does work, though.

I am not familiar with the DC/DC converters so I was curious how much more energy is used to boost 12V to 19V. You have to be eating more amps to create volts so I wonder how that compares to the amps lost converting DC to AC. I see that many of the inverters claim a 90 to 95 percent efficiency which does not sound too bad.
Does a DC/DC converter get hot as well while boosting power? Looking on Amazon, the DROK looks much bigger than something that could be built into a cigarette lighter adapter as described above. Any thoughts?
Sorry for all the questions, just trying to learn something.
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.
Can't we all just get along?

The DROK (Amazon) 600 watt BOOSTER has the cleanest secondary I have ever seen in a DC to DC converter. It needs to have voltage measured and a pot screw adjusted using a digital voltmeter to get 19.00 volts. Big deal. A 10-second operation. The DC is so clean I ditched the AC/DC converter. DC to AC to DC conversion isn't too bright an idea. The DROK will outlast several TV's and can be adjusted anywhere from 14 to 60 volts boost. It does NOT drop output voltage as a battery gets depleted.

Got on Amazon and ordered a cigarette lighter plug 19 volt adapter. It had the wrong end on it, but contacted the seller and they sent me a selection of new ends. They simply pulled out of the end. I switched out the end. Works perfectly.

It MIGHT run on Volts but .. Well..
http://www.allelectronics.com/make-a-store/item/udc-3/buck/boost-dc-converter/1.html

If you do not understand this is a "BUCK/BOOST" device, or DC/DC converter

It takes in a wide range of voltages (most anything from 4 to 32, though I'd avoid the lmites) and outputs a regulated voltage between 1.5 and 32 It can make a low voltage higher. Or a high voltage lower. Or a varying voltage constant.

3 amps (nearly 60 watts) should be enough to run your TV.

You can also buy them pre-made at compter stores, Adjustable Universal DC Computer power supplies, MUCH more expensive though.

I have the 32 inch Samsung,,, and I have a harbor fright 400 watt inverter.. and I have a Directv satellite box.. run both off the HF inverter just fine.

and its NOT PURE sine wave.

I did that on a 22-inch VIZIO flatscreen with no problems.. The they went with 120VAC cords coming out of the TV and it was hard to find one with an external transformer Brick.

The alternative would be to just get a small power inverter to produce 120VAC PURE SINE wave power. The flatscreen wattage is low like between 50 and 75WATTS...

I run all of my OFF-ROAD POPUP electronics and other small wattage items with a 600WATT Power Inverter. I could very easy get away with a 300WATT Model but always like to have some extra power available if needed...

I always found something that I wanted to run from the Power Inverter everytime I turned around haha...

You mean there is a 12 to 19 volt adapter?
