AS 2003 sat dish trouble

Hi yall, im trying to help my mom out here, she bought a motorhome that has a Winegard AS2003 automatic dish on it and it takes forever to lock on, it will run back and forth and up and down 4-5 or more times before it finely locks on, is there anything i can do to "speed up" this process ??? i have it parked in the driveway and it has a wide open view of the sky with no obstructions, thanks for any help.

PS its running with a direct tv receiver from the house that works fine, thanks

My old dome did the same thing, took forever to lock on. I finally upgraded to a Winegard Traveler. A lot of improvement have been made since 2003 in automatic Sat dishes.

I have a tailgater (automatic) for my Dish receiver. It takes a long time to lock onto the satellites (3), long time to download programming. Typically 20-30 minutes.

Thats the nature of the beast. It has a preprogramed search function that it goes through.
