Long time lurker first time poster here

I found out about this a few months ago as I had AT&T phones on the unlimited plan at the time and added it. It works great, the thing is now they offer a stand alone plan for $20 also so anyone can get it. You can get all the details on this cellular forum. Just thought I would pass along.

http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1894167-Stand-alone-AT-amp-amp-T-Unlimited-ZTE-Mobley-Hotspot-now-only-20!!!!!

(update.... most details are now in this thread so just keep reading ๐Ÿ™‚

Device is called a ZTE Mobley and its designed for cars, but can be used anywhere with an adapter, also AT&T seems to never slow your data no matter how much you use.

Adapters can be purchased:
Amazon, some are even prime

Ebay sells them also though some of the newer sellers look sketchy

These are the 2 original sellers and a known to be good.

Great thread! I ordered my Mobley and adapter today. I have held off until I found out it seems no store in Arizona has them to pick up in person. It has been interesting so far with different devices coming out on top in different areas. Right now my unlimited Sprint 4G is king in the middle of the Coconino Nat forest near Sedona.

I initiated a chat session and they issued a credit for the $25.00 activation fee as well.
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.
Can't we all just get along?

Way to go MrWizard...

I still can't believe we lucked up on such a good deal. I was watching the Mobley when it was $40 a month, then overnight it dropped to $20 a month. I signed up that morning.

Mine works great 30mbs down 32mbs up -73 dbm from home.

Cancelled my $60 a month 15mbs cable and I will rarely go over the 22Gb.

The WiFi signal is not very powerful so I will have to come up with an attached wireless router the grand kids not as likely to visit if they can't access the internet.

Earlier in thread, some had to go to ATT store, online orders kept getting cancelled.

Same here. I was in a store yesterday and they got me all hooked up. Left the store and 10 minutes later got a notice my order was cancelled for the second time because they couldn't confirm my identity.

Mobley is still working... fingers crossed it keeps working because I won't be near a store for 3 months.

This is from the Mobley manual:

Mode - Average current (mA)

Power Saving - 2.5

LTE network searching - 54.6

LTE MAX power (maximum transmission power) - 283.2

LTE normal network connection with five (5) devices associated but no open PDP context - 121.7

LTE normal network connection with five (5) devices associated and streaming some video content - 173.7
Thanks, Gene. Do you have a link to the manual you could post?

its a 'data' cellphone, your looking at power in the 1 watt or less and NO battery,

some users run this off a 500ma 5v usb port, stepped up to 12v
thats 2.5 watts max power from the USB, so it is using less than that

my best guess your looking a possible 150-200ma on 12v MAX, and likely less

no battery to charge, but you want a GOOD Filtered supply, with NO AC ripple in the 12v output

something that holds voltage DOWN even if very small load
a switching supply, not a device specific load specific supply

i choose to buy one for $35 + shipping, although i could have built it, if i ordered a OBD2 plug

Amazon has a number of switching power supplys used in CCTV applications. Here is an example. Is this what you are describing?

Ralph, the Mobley uses so little power I say no worries as long as it's getting 12 volts. I've noticed how cool mine operates, even after several hours of use.
