Calling Computer Video Buffs..

During this extended period of "Home Confinement", I finally had the chance to sit down and edit / put 41 separate Drone Videos into a 34 minute video of a new manufactured home being brought into and installed from start to finish in our park. Using Windows MOVIE MAKER, this project was accomplished even adding music and screen titles.. When finished, the Movie Maker program stored the complete video in MP4 format. I then burnt the video to a DVD. As it turns out, the DVD I made will play both the audio/video just fine on a PC BUT NOT PLAY THRU A VCR..which I have found out requires the video to be in either MPEG4 or VOB file format.. I really don't know for sure but thats what I think is the reason from what I have read. Now is the problem of converting the MP4 file to one that is VCR compatable..(VOB)? (MPEG4)? Anyone aware of a free file converter that will accomplish this feat? Several I have found want $20 or so for the program.. When completed, I am going to give the video to the new homeowner... Ideas ?? Suggestions ??

I tried and like this program..HOWEVER..when writing the DVD, it places their company's water mark on all of the video.. From what I can tell, you must get a paid version to avoid the watermark, and make HD DVD's... might be worth a few bucks if I can't find anything else.. thanks

Newer "Smart" TV's will play an MP4 file on a jump drive.
I suspect that DVD's will be a thing of the past in a few years.

Another program is Avi2Dvd

It converts most pc video formats to DVD
I have used it extensively in the paste, but very little: the past year

I still have it and use it, just not as much as before
I am not using anything else instead, just not creating as many DVD from self produced camera video,
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !

I use DVD Flick available here:

Another program is Simple DVD Creator. I have not tried this but is highly rated:

VideoHelp web site is an excellent source for anything video related.

You don't want to burn the mp4 file to CD
You need to Author a DVD, and yes that is what the process is called
The mp4 is turned into a Set of Vob files and and other associated files that are used for indexing chapters and scenes used for DVD format
That collection of files is burned to a DVD disc to create a DVD that will play on any DVD player
This is a multi step process, even if the software of choice is a one button click
The first step is the conversion into DVD files
Which then get turned into a DVD image file
Which then gets burned to the DVD disc
I can explain it to you.

I'll put this over on this thread too. JIC.

I was thinking Movie Maker would give you different options to save a project, depending on what you were going to do with it. Been a while since I've used it but I'm pretty sure there are various ways to save a project.

Go to the "Home" tab, then go to the far right and select the "Save More", and that should give you a drop down menu.

I think you should be able to burn directly to a playable DVD from within Movie Maker without ever even saving it as mp4.
