Can a dish 722 use wesern and eastern arc sattelites?

I was wondering if I set up a stationary dish open face antenna in our permanent camp site we sue many time over the summer set up for eastern arc (Due to trees) and then use the Trav'ler 1000 in other places.

I was thinking I can get another open face, aim and permanently mount it for eastern arc and hook to that when parked.

I miss watching my Tigers games in the summer because we can't use sat in our camp site, but the eastern sky is open to us as our campsite is on the west perimeter. 100 feet of co ax to RV and I could be all set.

sorry techwriter but you are wrong i have a dish diplexer to separate sat. signals and thats what dish installed,with dish network the ota antenna hooks directly to the receiver

A Diplexer is used to combine (and then separate) a sat signal with an OTA signal.

However, if you want to used both tuners of a dual-tuner receiver like a 722, then you use a Separator.

And you can connect a Separator to any of the LNBs on a 1000.2 dish -- just not the LNB-In port.

I just installed 1000.2 e.a.dish in fla. got it on ebay $60 aiming was a little tough til i covered the 61.5 lnb with aluminum foil then hit 72.7 the 61.5 is the lnb that is slightly tilted in,looking at dish from the front its on the left,also if your running one coax to a diplexer on receiver that coax goes to port 3 on dish (look closely they are marked 1.2.3.and i think it is on far right)do your check switch after aimining and should work great,then for locals call dish and give them zip code and you will get them on sat 61.5.

Thanks, the Dish 1000.2 Easern Arc LNBF states:
“Eastern Arc-compatible” receivers must be MPEG-4 (models) and must have the new G3 “Smart Card” encryption

So I am not sure if the 722 can do this or not.


Just looked it up and my 722 DVR has the MPEG 4 technology, so yipee for me!

Yes, you can set up a permanent dish and switch between it and the Trav'ler. If you use a fixed 1000 series dish, your 722 will see it the same as it does the Trav'ler. If the fixed dish has an eastern arc LNBF, and the Trav'ler is using a western arc LNBF, you will need to run a "Check switch" on the receiver when switching dishes though, to update the satellite data.
