Direct TV set recording via smart phone ?

I can't set a recording from my app (iPhone) or computer. I don't know what is the issue my phone iOS or direct tv. I called a few months ago and they could't figure it out and said they would report it to tech. It still won't work, I keep getting failed error in my history.

I don't have wifi, but I was assured I didn't need it since the recordings were set through the satellite. I never had an issue before upgrading to Genie.

Anyone know what I can do to get this to work. I reaching here, only because DirectTV tech support has not been helpful at all.

Thanks

Check that you have iOS 9.3.1

They released 9.3 and it had some glitches connecting to the internet. 9.3.1 fixes those issues - did for me!

There are a lot of things that quit working when I got my iPhone 6, but i think it has something to do with the OS, since my Mac doesn't work either.

It should have nothing to do with the receiver either. Sounds like an app issue with your iPhone. I have the earlier Genie, the HR34.

it must be an issue with Apple. It doesn't work from my iPhone or Mac. Maybe it is the box itself., I have an HR44.

I guess I will call Direct TV again

Just tried recording a series using my Andriod phone and the DirecTV app.
No problems at all.

Not that I do it all the time, but I've turned on recordings for my DirecTV DVR at home through the DirecTV web site. I do that to capture things like Masterpiece Theater so that I can watch them when we get home. It's always worked.

The receiver does not need to be connected to the internet in order for the DTV app to set recordings on your computer. I don't use an iPhone so I can't help but the last time I used my Android app it worked OK. I will give it a try later and see if I am having any issues.

I used to set my dvr when I wasn't home, and I don't have internet at my house. I looked on Direct TV website and it says that internet is not required. They even told me it wasn't needed. There is some communication going on because the History under recordings says the attempt failed. I think it all stopped when the new IOS came out with the iPhone 6.

Well I guess I am out of luck, no internet available in this area. Our hotspot is it and it goes with us,

Thanks

It is my understanding that your Directv dvr has to be connected to the Internet to use remote features from another Internet enabled device using the Directv app. At least that is how mine works.
