Directv Hook-up problem

In our motorhome, we have an R22-100 DVR and are trying to bring in signal with a Wineguard PM-2000. I ran RG/6 coax directly to the Sat 1 input on the DVR and used a Triplett 3275 SatAlign 2 Digital Satellite Signal Strength Meter to find the 101 satellite. I have the set-up on 01-Round, Multiswitch, Single Tuner, but get no signal. Any suggestions?

Not wrong, just not necessarily necessary. As mentioned above, you can set it as a single tuner DVR when using only one coax cable. You lose functionality but you gain simplicity of installation.

You only needed two cables to the receiver to watch one channel while recording another or for PIP I believe. I only have cable to Sat 1 input without SWM but as I said cannot watch another channel while recording.

Hopefully, readers will sift through the incorrect information posted on the public forums, but it's hard. An R22 is an SD only DVR and would never require a BBC (B-Band Converter). Even if it were an HD receiver (or DVR) you still would not need a BBC to receive the SD programming from 101. HD receivers start with the letter H i.e. H(HR) 23, 24, 34, 44.

Try reading this: http://forums.solidsignal.com/content.php/1149-What-is-a-B-Band-Converter-(and-do-I-need-one-

B-Band converters were only needed to receive HD signals from the Ka band 99 and 103 satellites. They are not relevant to reception of signals from the 101 bird or to this thread.

Only a couple of possibilities. The most likely is that the receiver is not setup correctly. You need to go into Repeat Satellite Setup and set 18" round and verify it is set to 02-multiswitch. Continue on to Signal Strength and Signal Meter. Stay here where you can see the signal meter "bar" for sat. 101 and transponder 1. If you have a good 70+ signal the antenna is pointed correctly. If not, you are not. That could also be a bad cable or connection but without a good signal here you have nothing. If you do get a signal then you MUST continue through the rest of the setup to the end (ignore error messages) to get the settings to stick.

You don't need a B-Band converter to get signal from the 101 satellite; it is needed only for the 99 and 103 birds.

Do you have a "B" band converter installed?
