Looking for the right Dish/LNB combo to get HD with my older Direct TV H20 receiver (HD receiver).

Receiver has the BBC.

Thanks for any help.

Edit; I see this big one for up to 4 receivers.https://www.summitsource.com/DIRECTV-SL5-Slimline-Dish-Kit-with-LNB-Ka-Ku-Antenna-MPEG-4-HD-AU9S-HDT...Is there a smaller one that gets local and HD content?

No BBC is used with SWM. You just need the LNB and the PI25 power supply.
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.

Hello Bill, just to clarify, I will need the BBC and power supply. Cable run is around 50'.

Thanks again.

Not sure what you might be referring to. Vertical and horizontal oval what?

However, I think he has the oval antenna, which will not work, as I believe it is a vertical oval and not the horizontal oval. Maybe I am wrong.

Bill, again I thank you very much for sharing your expertise.

That's a SWM LNB so you will also need a PI25 power inserter. I assume you are buying that because it's cheap but it is a SWM5 and is not necessary. A SWM3 will do the same job but if it costs more then this one will do fine.

As a point of clarification, the thing you have been calling a dish is not a dish. The things you eat food from are dishes. The things that receive broadcast signals are antennas. The OTA "antenna" on your roof and the satellite "antenna" in a dome, on the ground or attached to a Trav'ler are used to receive signal broadcasts.
So......to answer your question, you need an antenna and an LNB. However, if you are using an HD receiver but connecting itmto an older SD TV you just need a simple single LNB that will let you point to and receive the signal broadcast from the 101 satellite. These cost about $15 (or less) and can be found locally quite often. Where you might have a problem is connecting your HD receiver to an older TV. Does the H20 have a coax output option? If not, your old TV will not have an HDMI input but it might have a 3 wire Red/White/Yellow RCA connection option.

Like I said above old set at our lakeplace died last week. New set is 1080P and will be run with H20 HD receiver. Hence the purpose of this thread. Question? I will be snagging a slimline antenna and this LNB
today. Do I need a power supply and or the inline BBC into the receiver for this antenna/LNB combo for the H20 receiver?

Thank you Bill for your help!

By Golly you learn something new everyday. I certainly did not mean to offend anyone or complicate matters.

So the round metal thing is not a dish it is to be refereed to as an antenna?

Your use of "dish" as a generic or slang term for a satellite antenna, is confusing to refer to dish when using Directv.

No, It's for our lakeplace. We only used our SD receiver there but the old 480i TV died last week and I bought a new 1080P set so I'll be going HD now with The H20 receiver. So I need a LNB and or dish upgrade.

You could also update to a SWM3 LNB but it really won't have any advantage with that particular receiver.
